Boxing ordinarily comes down to mostly resume, but there is context, here. Usyk, if he beats Fury, will be the first undisputed heavyweight champ in 25 years, the first ever of the 4-belt ever, and that is after being the first undisputed cruiser of the 4-belt era. Since he has no political backing in Britain or America, he has basically travelled to everyone else's home country to do it, and in conquering the heavyweight division, he is fighing guys who dwarf him in size. And let's not forget that his country was invaded and he took some time off to go fight in the territorial defenses.

It really is a remarkable story, pretty much unparalleled. As for the level of competition, they would all be ranked much higher if Uysk didn't exist. He is so good, he has yet to find a proper rival.

    There is my case.

    Who made him quit?

As for Joshua, he was clearly hurt.

This post is spot on and excellent in all respects, but it is worth noting that Mercer was at least 70 years old.

Don't fully agree, but a solid case none the less

What if Fury becomes a four belt champion? OK he doesn't have the cruiserweight achievements, but if you put Usyk in with Robinson, greb, Armstrong, Langford etc, then surely Fury would go high up on your list of Heavyweights?

I Don't think by any means Fury wins easily, but if he crushes Usyk, stops him, how would you rate him then?

    You answered yourself---he's not a two-division champ.

Fury doesn't have the depth. If he beats Usyk and goes on to beat Joshua, now we're talking. I honestly don't see that. The booze, drugs, sharp weight gains and losses, along with few hard fights, have really taken theri toll.

But we'll see. Maybe he'll surprise us.

Joshua never once sat down on his punches and really looked to bang Usyk so no, we don’t know whether Usyk could have taken that type of power punch from Joshua!
    Probably not

Joshua was a shadow of himself in the Usyk fights, tentative and still gunshy after losing to Ruiz. He didn’t even know what style to fight with and quite ridiculously opted to box from the outside against a boxing grand master.

On the evidence of the Dubois fight, I’d say Usyk would not see the end of the fight against that version of Anthony Joshua

He took 3 years out and looked a mess
Most never thought he would ever challenge for a world title again, let alone win one and still be among the elite

It's easy to overlook that achievement now in hindsight, but not many picked Fury to become a top fighter again

Even if you don’t rate wilder, He easily beat Whyte and chisora who beat and put up fights with Parker etc

Also you hold a lot of weight on Usyk being a cruiser champ? A mickey mouse division for most of it and hardly comparable to the likes of Manny and Floyd who jumped up much more weight beating a much higher calibre level fighter

I will use Manny, as the forum hates Floyd. His resume absolutely smashes usyks out of the water. The level of fighter he and Floyd beat kills the Breidis, Joshua's and Bellews of this world

I can't comprehend having usyk even close to those guys, never mind in front of them? He has beat mostly bums, as the 2 divisions lack quality

    There are no,

    Morales
    Barrera
    De la hoya
    Mosley even old
    Cotto
    Canelo
    Marquez
    Etc
    Etc

I could name many more, but the above are greater fighters than Aj and Bredis

Do you think Tony Bellow, Dubois and Chisora should be compared to the above?

Usyk is a fantastic talent, no doubt, but the level of opposition for the most part is absolutely rubbish

A young mike Tyson would clean out his entire resume easily including him. It's a dung era

Yeah, I don't buy into the narrative that Fury's record is terrible, but it lacks depth for a heavyweight champ.

Usyk's competition is fine. Joshua is a two-time unified champ, and Briedis and three-time cruiser. Bellew, Glowacki, Huck and Gassiev were also champs.

It's OK, but not great in my opinion
Not even close to the Floyd and mannys of this world

The above are rubbish compared to Floyd and Mannys best wins

I would not even dare to compare to Ray Leonard or Ali

I mean, I like Floyd and Manny, and think they are pretty elite too, so I haven't much to argue, here.

    Look it matters not
We disagree where we place usyk
    We disagree on Fury

We both agree that usyk is a brilliant fighter and p4p among the very best now, if not the best

It's late my friend in my time zone, we can pick this up again!!

Personally, if Fury wins I don’t think it’ll have the same glory as Usyk winning. Fury is SUPPOSED to win. He is, and has been the undefeated lineal heavyweight champion of the world for nearly a decade. He’s younger, much taller, longer, 30-50lbs heavier, and very skilled.
So not only is Usyk older, shorter and smaller in general, but he has a style that doesn’t lend itself to longevity. At his age, the multiple postponements of the fight presumably work against him. It also appears that Fury is favored by the Saudi powers that be.
