Tommy Hearns vs Roy Jones Jr at 175 lbs. This fight does not appear to be unreasonable or unfair. Both fighters won titles at 175 lbs, who wins and why?

I’d favor Jones but I’m not dismissing Hearns completely. Hearns stopped Denise Andries and soundly outboxed a prime Virgil Hill at 175. Both guys had power that could hurt the other. Jones was faster by the time Tommy would have been fighting up there. But Hearns was tall and had a range style. Either way it’s a good fight

Jones would be the favorite but this was Tommy's favorite weight where his body felt good. The problem Hearns had is he was up and down up and down in weight so much , he didn't settle in at any weight really .. If Tommy had fought at 175 exclusively for a long time , My money would have been on him

I don't know if what you say is correct. But, you and I are often on the same page, so, I am going to give what you said some thought

It is hard for me to accept someone who loses to Leonard at Welter beats Jones at Light-Heavy. I suppose if anyone could beat that criteria, it would be Hearns, but as things stand, I don’t like his chances.

I remember when Jones was right in his prime, Emmanuel Steward talked about this fantasy matchup and liked Tommy's chances against a guy like Roy because he said Tommy never had trouble with boxers.

I guess Hearns would have had a puncher's chance to do a Tarver on him. On the other hand Roy could also do the same.

I recall reading where a fight between Hearns and Roy was discussed when Tommy was about 38 yrs old.
Never came off. Roy vs Hearns though at 175? I wouldn't count Tommy out,,,,,,

Probably, the referee would do that for you.

I remember that. I also have always felt that McClellan would have been a serious threat to Roy had they fought. I know most will say because he lost to Benn that Roy would have won for sure, but styles make fights and I think Gerald's height, and big punch, would have made Roy a little gunshy. Roy would not have fought G Man with the same "go for broke" all out style that Benn did. I think he would have been a bit cautious of McClellan's power, and because I question Jones' chin now, I wonder.

But remember Gerald McClellan was winning prior to the near tragedy against Benn.

Interesting matchup. I can see either one winning, I can't decide right now.
