Ludicrous sum of money to be asking for, for this fight. Canelo is a draw but Benavidez isn't and simply isn't known outside hardcore fans. His last fight was $85 for the PPV, so that's 2-2.5 mill PPV buys and that's never happening. The Saudi pockets are deep but even they would balk at that kind of money, not even Mayweather was guaranteed that much when he fought Pacquiao.

He's really painting himself into a corner by making statements like this. I believe that this is all just some story they are spinning to generate interest in the fight, to build the fight for when it happens. But if Canelo never fights Benavidez now, he's painted an image of himself ducking Benavidez and that's what he'll be remembered for when he does retire as the guy who aged out GGG and when a young lion came along ducked him. It would go down as one of the biggest ducks in boxing history.

Clenelo's shameless ducking of his #1 challenger Benavidez is not only extremely cowardly it's completely indefensible. He clearly and undeniably wants and never has wanted a goddamn thing to do with him. The only way he'd ever fight him is if Benavidez was 35 y/o or older and past or well past his best.

It's so much worse when the sport's biggest stars like Clenelo duck fighters than it is when other fighters do it because not only does he earn 10 x more per fight than many of the sports big names do, and more in one fight than thousands and thousands of other fighters do in their entire careers combined, but he literally has the judges in his pocket everytime he fights to wave their magic wands to turn his Ls into Ws. And even if you whoop his ass like a naughty ginger infant like Bivol who was in cruise control all night did they'll still bend over backwards to try and rob you.

Benavidez hasn't beaten anyone according to Clenelo but Mr Padded record Munguia who Benavidez would beat into a quivering heap in 4-5 rounds has apparently

Morrell hasn't actually beaten anyone but Clenelo will never fight him either and if he somehow does manage to inflate those little ginger chicken balls of his and dares to fight him I predict we'll see Clenelo take his first KO loss. Knock his overrated stumpy little serial ducking ass smooth out

Bivol has given Clenelo the B fever. No rematch for Bivol, no shot not now or ever for Benavidez. And even though Beterbiev is 39 y/o Clenelo's is still terrified of him

If you have zero intention of fighting your #1 contender and the best fighters in your division and you're going to hold the belts hostage for years, don't just relinquish the belts GTFO of the sport.

first canelo tries to do a lowball 5mm to get out of the fight which backfires on him when benevedez agrees to the offer so canelo now goes teh way of a 200mm highball to get out of the fight.

im sure canelos PR team has tried to tell him not to speak to the media about benevedez but hes so clueless and delusional that he is beyond hope.

seriously?...."no one can beat this version of canelo" because he was able to knockdown a 154 pounder?...

jermell would not even entertain the thought of getting in the ring with benevdez...

Benavidez's response to Canelo on his IG:

@canelo if I have nothing to offer then why are you demanding you get 150-200 million to fight someone who isn’t worth anything? Hopefully after you make that 150 million you have enough left over to buy a pair of nuts.

I beg to differ, Fury's purse is estimated to be near or in that same window if you've followed the talk about his fight with Usyk.

Funny that when Avni Yildirim is Canelo's WBC mandatory, he has no problem with facing his mandatory straight away

But when David Benavidez is his WBC mandatory, he freezes him out for years, and demands $200m otherwise he won't face him

The length of time Canelo has ducked Benavidez for, along with the ridiculous excuses (most notably "I don't fight Mexicans" but has no problem fighting Mexican Jaime Munguia) makes this one of the worst ducks of all-time.

Even funnier, Avni Yildirim had been mandatory longer than Benavidez before he got his fight.....

$100 million I believe is the narrative (which I'm still skeptical of), but that's a lot less than $150-200 million.
