lol Nobody remembers the WBO moved a dead man up the rankings. Those WBA defenses were the same as WBA regular defenses today.

A lot of them would have also been beaten by George Groves and John Ryder types

You think Mikell Kessler was a bum ? You think moving up and beating Hopkins was poor ?

Nah. I just don’t think that EVERY fighter has to live up to sugar Ray Robinson to have a “ brilliant career “ which is really all I’m crediting him with.

The usual amount of booze. Some blow. Some PCP. Some weed. The usual protocol at the time.

On classic forum, you'd have to show me where he's rated, save for in the context of a baby division.

It's a boring old debate, so I'll say he was born in Britain and holds dual British and Canadian nationality and leave it at that.

Canelo has beaten more top 5 guys at 168 than Calzaghe and that's in the last 4 years while Calzaghe had 44 fights at that weight

Canelo beat Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, Caleb Plant, John Ryder. That's already more than Joe Calzaghe beat in his entire career

All roughly on Brewer, Mitchell and Reid type level. None on even the past prime Eubank or overhyped Lacy level, let alone Kessler level.

I personally do not like Calzaghe, but he was a great fighter.

Canelo did it in 3 years thats Calzaghes career at 168. If Canelo ever beats Benavidez hes clealry surpassed Calzaghe as a SMW

    Couldn't disagree more.

    Kessler better than Benavidez.

    Eubank better than BJS.

Lacy (the version Ioe fought) better than Smith.

Mitchell at least as good as Plant.

    Brewer better than Ryder.

Rest of Calzaghe's wins combined better than Canelo's 168lbs wins combined.

Dont know what makes Kessler better than Benavidez.

That version of Eubank was a fill in opponent.

I guess the rest is all similar
