I think Pryor stops Mel late in a great fight. Taylor was talented as all hell pre-Chavez, but Pryor would be too much for him.

Hmmm. Great matchup. Pryor surely never saw the handspeed/combinations Taylor would bring. Conversely, I don't think Meldrick had the power to deter Pryor's offense. I think Chavez's body attack played in huge part in stopping Taylor and I don't think Pryor would go to the body as effectively. I may change my mind on this one, and it's based completely on styles not historical ranking, but I'll say Taylor holds him off to win a close decision. Upset!

You make a decent point there, natonic.

Taylor could map out the right plan to steer the wild Pryor into brick walls with the speed and tightness of his boxing, but Pryor always pulled his head out of the wall and went rampaging back. Big mistakes never cost him.

Pryor did not commit to body like Chavez, if at all, but looped head shots with his quirky movement to a confusing rhythm. Stylistically, it's doubtful that Taylor could be as good a matador to Pryor as he was to Chavez. He did not march forawrd, but rather bounced about and changed the pace of attack as quick as a the flick of a switch.

Pryor will be popped by the jab, and his waving head will be there for some combinations, but he'd bore right back in with both hands. He'd get his.

Taylor could win, but Ted Spoon feels over a shorter distance. When Pryor refuses to settle into traps, he'll begin to drag a tiring Taylor through the rounds for a late stoppage or hard fought points victory.

In a 12 rounder, Meldrick might have a slim chance, but if it's 15, Aaron is going to get to him at some point in a give-and-take battle, with Aaron winning on a 14th round stoppage even on the cards.

Pryor was no Chavez and if Taylor almost took Chavez d distance and was pointwise competitive then he would have most probably stopped Pryor , also based on his stoppage of McGirt and him lasting 12 with Aaron Davis .
Taylor d more accomplished fighter by far . I don't know what r trannies basing Pryor's greatness upon .

In a 12 round fight, Meldrick Taylor wins a UD.
If it is 15, then Pryor wins.

I'd bet the house on Pryor.

Meldrick was quick but he was always hit a lot even in his fights against less caliber fighters. John Meekins busted up his face a little even when Meldrick was dominating. If Meekins could do that what would Pryor do? Pryor by late round knockout.

Meldrick didnt have the firepower to keep Pryor off him.

I don't see how Pryor can possibly lose. For all Meldrick's speed, he would eventually worn down by the Hawk's unrelenting aggression.

Pryor all day for me, a much worse match-up for Taylor than Chavez was.

Whilst Chavez pressure was more attritional, I would say Pryor's was more frenetic....and I don't think this suits Taylor well.

Pryor could slip punches inside and was more athletic than Chavez. He'd brutalise him and stop him in the mid-rounds IMO.

Bump. Would have been a great fight while it lasts but I can't see this other than a Pryor win, most likely by stoppage.

I would likely agree with your pick especially in 15 rds. In 12 I am not sure...I still probably go with Pryor but think it is a closer fight than the Chavez one (not counting the judge that had Chavez ahead) but that Taylor would finish on his feet and win or lose a close SD

I think Taylor would put up a helluva show over 12.
