Another MSM vote as puncher from me.

I'm only going for respectable Gibbons though. There can't be many posters who rate Tommy more highly than me, his run from debut up until 1920 has a good shout for the most under celebrated in all of boxing history (though Jimmy Bivins record from 1942-46 runs it very close), but with 48 stoppage wins in 105 fights, his KO % is below 50%. Furthermore, a closer inspection of his record reveals that as wonderful as his win resume is, he was taken the distance more often than not against world class opposition, with the majority of his victories coming against lower level fighters who Tommy would have outclassed.

After that quality post, you don't actually seem to have gone for a category?

So that puts Muhammad firmly in Puncher.

Gibbons torn between Puncher and Respectable.

What about Roy Jones (66-10 with 47 knockouts)? Roy had around 30 fights at LHW, which surprised me actually, and won many of them by KO, something else that surprised me. One punch KOs number among them, sometimes against limited opposition - what do we think? How much does speed matter? And how much does it matter if it matters? Where would RJ rank?

Absolute gunman. Griffin got sent to the ropes like an NBA player flopping in the playoffs. Hill felt the pain of getting hit in the balls without actually getting hit in the balls, and Glen Kelly probably never played peak a boo with his kids ever again.

I'll say "Puncher" for RJJ aswell whilst his speed was a great asset he had some scary KO's at Light Heavyweight.

KO'ed Virgil Hill with a single body shot breaking his ribs the only time Hill was ever KO'ed in 58 fights, Hill's stoppage loss to Mormeck was Hill retiring in his corner so the RJJ is the only time he was ever legitimately KO'ed.

The 1st round stoppage of Montel Griffin with a single left hook, a scary KO that had Griffin doing his version of Berbick against Tyson.

Clinton Woods very durable was only ever stopped once in 48 fights by RJJ.

Reggie Johnson was dropped twice by RJJ once with the most perfect one two you'll ever see, whilst RJJ didn't stop him i think at times RJJ just went into autopilot because he was winning fights so easily. But dropping the very durable Johnson twice also shows RJJ's power.

As i said earlier i think RJJ sometimes carried opponents, i honestly think he could've stopped a past it McCallum but carried him towards the end out of respect.

But yeah RJJ showed enough single punch power against elite opposition definitely a "Puncher" for me.

RJJ punched harder than his 10 KO's out of 25 LHW contests would suggest.

At times his safety first approach belied the extent of his one punch power.

With his KO % at LHW I could understand an argument for respectable at LHW, but based on how hard he could hit when he fully committed to a big shot, I'll vote puncher.

Gun for Roy Jones. It's the way he KO'd people in that division. Devasting stuff. Especially the Hill one.

Good Lord, that slow-mo footage of the defense and counter work by Gibbons makes him look like a video game character. And Bloomfield was a respectable fighter, a hard punching dude. Someone needs to do a comprehensive work on the Gibbons Bros. The ever sanguine @klompton2 seems the most competent to the task but, if I remember correctly, has no hunger for it, when he could literally sell tens of copies of such a book.

SO i'm gonna say Puncher for Roy Jones which puts him in the Puncher category (barely!) from Gun - if there's nobody about to split Gibbons i'll just pop him into Respectable, give it a few hours though.

Jack Delaney (listed 73-11-2 with 43 kos) was something of a king-killer and clearly a bull of a LHW based on the film we have of him - but what about his punching power? Jack kayoed heavyweights but at LHW his power tended to fail him in the highest class - he did manage KOs of an undersized Mike McTigue and Tiger Flowers, but most elite opposition heard the bell - he did stop Paul Berlenbach in their earliest encounter just above the middleweight limit.
