Talk of a big Wembley fight late this year raises my hopes that Fury Joshua will happen here. I've said on here loads before that that fight happening over Saudi would be shite and kill most of the build up. Possibly reading too much into it but hopefully it's been pitched to the Saudis in that way.
Can't complain about this at all. With Bivol v Beterbiev being the cherry on the top of a very expensive cake. PPV? Cards like these are potentially worth the outlay. Really hope that Wilder v Zhang is on the card plus AJ, myself being greedy, as one of the other two heavyweights.
It's does make you wonder how effective a lot of this marketing/sports washing is. The AJ PPV numbers for the US were 4,500. I've no idea what the Saudi Pro league numbers are like. I get why it works for something like F1, as you have x million fans who watch the series World wide. But these other things I do wonder if there is any value at all? Anyway, looks like it could be a great card
I think it’s the actual exposure that the Saudis need the most, rather than the PPV money. Not to get Political, but the Saudis are looking at the long term (by that I mean 50 yrs +) sustainability of their economy, with the move away from their power base of oil. They need to make themselves an accessible tourist destination and embrace Western entertainment etc to generate more income.
If the great Turkey wants to plough money into the sport and give us fans fights that otherwise might never happen I’m not complaining it’s not as if other countries don’t have blood on their hands we just need to enjoy this as long as it lasts
I know they don't need the PPV revenue. But adverts only work if people see them. It makes me wonder how many people are seeing these cards as all they are are adverts
Chisora has no business being on this card. Not thrilled with Craig Richards either, guys best night was not looking out of his depth against Bivol while training under Sims' born again Christians / omelette lovers alliance.
Aren't both Hrgovic vs Dubois and Zhang vs Wilder rumoured for this card? I thought Smith vs Yarde was certain for this card but with the comments of Yarde vs Buatsi being close, then maybe not.
Interesting if it's not Ford, because Eddie picked feather - you'd imagine with Ford in mind. Lara can't make the weight. Wood and Warrington are good UK sellers so no need to send them. Who else has he really got? I'm skeptical of Ford saying he'll be on Shakur's card, no way Eddie lets him go to TR again surely?
I reckon he'll send Warrington. Don't think he'd do many tickets in Leeds if he fought there next and can't seem to agree a deal with Wood. The only other thing I can think of is someone like Akhmadaliev moving up?
Just had a thought, it's probably not a big fight like Turki would want, but maybe Collins-Price? The Ball-Vargas rematch probably does well at M&S Bank or something, could headline another Magnificent Seven
MJ is surely getting the Inoue fight if things go as planned, not sure he's going to risk that. Yeah could be true re: Warrington. I've just said Hopey-Collins as well as a possibility.
Ford vs Ball is such a weird (rumoured) fight for a card that should only have 50/50 fights. Ford is levels above.
