Great question! The Marciano opponent who most resembled Chuvalo was probably Rex Layne, but George was a better and more durable fighter. Chuvalo would probably go the distance with Rocky and could conceivably win the nod. Crazier things happen all the time. There is still among many fight fans a feeling that Marciano was never properly tested.
Twice he was stopped, by Frazier and by Foreman. One of them broke the orbital bone in his face. But nobody ever floored him.
As if that weren’t madness enough, to hear him speak after his career, it sounds like he never wore a punch in his life. Chuvalo’s “talent” is as amazing in equivalent as someone like Ali with their handspeed & ring IQ, just without the flash. It is truly that kind of rarity, though.
George blows Marciano out of the ring with a left hook to the body. Call a priest if you feed an animal like Chuvalo with Marciano. Pure murder.
I’m going to go with Rocky here. Chuvalo might prove to be a tough proposition but Marciano’s two fisted attack to the head and body will force Chuvalo to take a lot of punishment. A decision for Rocky is realistic but a stoppage at some point isn’t out of the question either.
Tested? He fought old, small worn out former greats and 3 raters. Marciano an ATG? He is an AT fraud.
Well, if Marciano could stop Chuvalo I suppose the moon is made out of cheese... Sir, Chuvalo was never decked and you fancy a midget, who was floored by a 42 year old lightheavyweight, could stop iron-chinned Chuvalo? The man who sent an in prime Ali at a hospital for 2 weeks, Sir?
Give me Marciano in this tear up. Chuvalo was a near Contemporary of Marciano and no one back when he was fighting would have picked Chuvalo to beat Marciano. I think Marciano eventually does what Frazier did.
That’s what I’m thinking. I still believe Chuvalo could go the distance but if it gets to the point where he’s just eating too many hooks and Suzie Q’s something is eventually going to break
