I know Alan Rudkin had 3 title attempts at Batamweight all away from home.Has any other British fighter done a similar amount in the same circumstances?
Over a four-year period (1997-2001), Lennox Lewis beat Oliver McCall for the WBC belt, Evander Holyfield for the WBA & IBF belts, and Hasim Rahman for the WBC and IBF belts ... all in Las Vegas. Tyson Fury won the WBA, WBO and IBF titles from Wlad Klitschko in Germany in 2015, fought Deontay Wilder for the WBC title in the US in 2018, won the title from Deontay Wilder in the US in 2020 ... and he'll challenge for the fourth time outside his country in May when he fights Oleksandr Usyk for the WBA, IBF and WBO belts in Saudi.
Carl Froch fought world title fights in America x3, Finland, Denmark. If you're strictly on about world title shots ? Herol Graham had 3 world title shots vs Jackson in Spain, Brewer in America, McCallum in UK.
Herol Graham was from the UK, though. And Froch didn't challenge for titles in three different countries. His title challenges outside the UK were in the US and Finland, against Ward and Abraham.
No i was thinking more on the lines of those fighters whose only world title were abroad thus ruling out Froch and Graham
Wales´ vicious punching Colin Jones. 2 world title fights against Milton McCrory in the United States and the 3rd vs the brilliant Don Curry in England!
Freddie Welsh won the world lightweight title in Boston, defended it many times, lost it to the mighty Benny Léonard, then re-won it in Seattle. He lost it again, and had a failed third crack in New York. Freddie Welsh was ****ing crazy. Tommy West might have had three title shots but the weights were so messed up then, who knows what title was on the line and when.
