There was no reason for Holmes to fight the WBA champs he didn't fight. Lineal or not he had more credibility than they did. His claim was based on beating Norton who'd beaten Jimmy Young who'd beaten George Foreman. The WBA lineage was built on Coetzee beating Leon Spinks whose close win over old Ali had been avenged.

Case and point when Holmes fought Ali the WBA belt was held by Mike Weaver. Who Holmes had already beaten albeit in a competive fight.

While I understand that it's very upsetting to you, we both know how inconsequential the point in Tyson's career was when he used a "Pisser" and the reasons given. We also know the medical, morphological, and documented evidence for Holyfield's PED use during his prime which is a different kettle of fish.
