That's your opinion and I'm fine with that but they have to prove it first and some of them haven't beaten a Liakhovich or a Ruiz level opponent yet, let alone a Valuev. Actual world champions not unproven prospects

Ruiz was 33 y/o when Valuev beat him and he'd beaten the likes of Holyfield, Rahman, Golota, Kirkl Johnson etc. in his previous 7 fights

Liakhovich was a world champion who beat Brewster in a classic. He could fight and crack.

Anderson went life and death with Charles Martin and Sanchez has only beat Ajagaba

Anderson is not in my top 10.

Alot of the names you are mentioning were very much shot. And the belts were swapped over quickly because the era was so choatic and weak before the Klitchkos took the reigns, even James Toney was able to pick up credible wins slightly before. Prime brewster was a dangerous gatekeeper so that was a good win, he also lost to alot of less than stellar names. Ruiz was a sold fighter a spoiler a horrible watch, if he had faced a decent in prime puncher he would of been splatted.

It was easier to grab a title back then, because it was a mixture of Decent Fighters, alot of old good ones, crap ones and then an ATG got trained how to fight tall. It was a free for all post Lennox. Valuev being backed well was able to get a title shot, and hold it in Germany, being tough and big enough not to get KO'd and closely beat his main threats.

Klitchko cleaned out the Division post 2005? Valuev was probably in cahoots with the Klitchkos. Klitchko "You beat the shot old names or ones we dont rate, and you keep the belt" and build a legacy, Dont worry Nikolai we wont give you a severe beating infront our paying Germans fans. He won the Vacant WBA from Ruiz after Chaggers beat him, chaggers vacated? And before when Ruiz was Champ by beating who?

I can't see him beating Zhang at all.

Zhang, a southpaw, is big and hard-hitting counterpuncher.

The single time Valuev has fought southpaw he was completely dominated. Even Don KIng and Sauerland judges couldn't rob him, though they tried.

If you look at average scores both on boxrec and eye-on-the ring, Chagaev has won it 118-110. It was an easy win for Chagaev.

Of course, Chagaev is skilled southpaw boxer, but he is very short compared to Zhang and doesn't hit nearly as hard.

Zhang isn't active enough over 12 rounds and he won't knock Valuev out.

    Prime Chagaev was quality.

Who did Valuev face that hit as hard as Zhang, who wouldnt be running either like Haye.

Chaghaev was a quality boxer with decent enough power, enough to get some stoppage wins and keep opponents honest. But his skills were his main quality.

Zhang has skills and destructive power.

I think Povetkin would of gave Valuev a serious beating had they faced, where it would got of uncomfortable to watch.

Prime Valuev wasn't a bad fighter at all by modern HW standards. And he was so huge that it allowed him to fight in an almost semi-crouch and still have a height advantage over his opposition while putting him in a good mechanical position to land solid jabs at range and uppercuts and clubbing OH hooks in close. Handspeed wasn't at all bad for a HW either. It's just his lack of punching power relative to his size that was poor. But he also had a decent gas tank and would generally keep clubbing you with round the guard shots or thumping that long jab in your face till you got broken down.

People saying he wouldn't make it in today's division need to look at today's division and then rewatch Valuev and reconsider how little it takes to actually be ranked in the top ten. With careful matchmaking he could absolutely beat a lot of today's top ten/fifteen. It's the movers and the defensive stylists that'd cause him the main problems. Guys like Usyk or Opetaia would clown him, Joshua would blast him out, and Parker would outwork him. But someone like Chisora or Ruiz or even Zhang. I can see Valuev beating them. And what about Anderson or Dubois? Should they be odds on favourites? I don't think so.

    Saying that....

Agreed, Valuev is a tough but to crack. His head is built to take damage like a Gorilla's skull literally.

His head circulate must be 28 inches or something. Must break your own hand when you hit it hard enough.

And Zhang tires easily whereas Valuev has solid stamina and good engine.

He tires having to face good movers with in and out movement like Parker and Hrgovic, and even to a certain degree Forest.

If you are moving forward, plodding hes gonna drop you. Zhangs left over Valuevs jab every day of the week.

He was carefully matched mate lol. Although there wasnt much good in that era to beat him anyway. When he did step up to fight Chag he was beaten with ease.

Also his handspeed was bang average and he was a big target.

No one in the top 10 has slower hands then Valuev.

Chagaev was mint. I'm a huge fan.

Zhang isn't consistent enough over 12 to beat Valuev

I rate Chag but again not much resume.

But he passes the eye test. He beat Valuev with ease.

Valuev beats Chisora probably, because chisora has very slow feet and crude technique. A good jab and stamina and valuevs size is enough.

Andy Ruiz would be way too quick for Valuev it would look like Valuev was in slow motion.
And hear me out, Ruizs destruction of Joshua is better than anything Valuev ever did in 50 odd fights.

Zhang has not shown any chin problems thus far, hed have far more power and speed then Valuev, hes good at countering jabs, and im confident that Valuev would think differently after taking that power. Not that he could do much about it but wait for Zhang to tire.

Valuev would beat Dubois, because he has quit in him. But again that would probably be the biggest puncher Valuev has faced, crazy really.

No one would in the top 10 would struggle with a 46year old Holyfield, like Valuev did.

It would be elderly abuse putting a 46year old Holyfield in the ring with a top 10 fighter from today.

How many '0's did Valuev take in his reign as a champ.

    The era was wank!

    Bigger version of Camera..

    No punch .. no technique...

He'd be in the top 10 but not very long.

John Ruiz, Monte Barrett and 47 year old Holyfield are not around anymore lol
