He is the best pound for pound, but he is not fighting anybody. He is just wasting time and getting older.
As is almost every pound for pound fighter today. Usyk is inactive, Crawford is inactive, Lomachenko is inactive, Tank is inactive, Estrada is inactive, Beterbiev is inactive and Bivol is inactive. The only fighters that seem to be having 3 fights in the span of a year are Inoue, Bam and Canelo. It sucks, but it's how things are.
Cause they are overpaid. Some multimillionaire that focusses on his zero (thanks floyd!) And gets enough daily praise from yes men and insta d*ck riders doesnt feel the need to stay active. Hell, im sure if Sugar Ray Robinson was alive now and fighting he would be cherrypicking all the same. There is no motivation for them to stay active. If you have one belt and then Champions should fight ranked opponents two/three times a year at least it woulf be good. But since they are not forced you depend on money reasons (which they dont gave since they are loaded) and legacy motivation reasons (which they also lack as mentioned above) so what remains is an inactive fighter and a waste of talent and quality fights. Which leads to ducking, cherrypicking, the best not fighting the best when the fight is in demand (thanks floyd!) and an overal decline of boxing as a sport overall. Thats not even taking into consideration the corruption.
Crawford is effectively retired and P4P is a made up load of tosh that only dickheads like Crawford and Canelo care about You never hear Usyk or Fury talk about it because they're the best fighters of this era without question. Not Crawfish who has never really beaten anyone Crawford sucks. He's sucked his entire life. He's going to retire unbeaten and regret having never tested himself. Spence payday was all he needed and it almost missed him because Spence is so shot to pieces. Now don't get me wrong, he is an elite boxer...but so what. If I'm an elite jerker and don't jerk off anyone worth jerking then what use is it? Waste of time is what it is.
It is more and more looking like he's fighting just once this year, if he gets to fight at all. Very, very underwhelming.
I don't know, he is as inactive as Usyk, but nobody is saying that about Usyk. double standards again ?
Which in part why he will never be a big draw. Wins the biggest fight of his career on the biggest stage then goes MIA for 8 months with no fight on the cards. Now some of this delay will have been due to Spence deciding if he wanted to activate his rematch clause or not, but it was reported he wasn't rematching Spence a while ago, you'd expect Bud to now be talking to the media telling us who he wants next but he clearly hates doing any kind of media or promote himself in any way. More boxers really need to learn how to promote themselves better, so many just fall off the face of the earth between fights. They really have no excuse with social media making it so easy to reach fans now.
...are you tuned in any way at all? "Crawford, widely considered the world’s finest fighter, has been installed as the mandatory challenger to the WBO light-middleweight title Tszyu attempts to defend on Saturday at The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where he and Fundora will also contest the WBC title." Stop talking about Ennis. He's not getting Crawford. Literally Zero percent chance. Ennis has slim chance w Thurman and thats about it. Otherwise all of this era will fight bigger fights. Crawford eyeing up undisputed in his 3rd weight class which he actually might be able to pull off in just 2 fights...damn!
So like I said, whilst he prepares for his challenge against Zoo/Canelo he should take a stay busy fight against Ennis. Would be a solid defence of his 4 belts and keeps him active.
Remember how people were saying Usyk didn't deserve his shot at AJ when he invoked the WBO's own rule to become mandatory in the division above after departing the one below? And this is despite him having to wait two years for his shot and having two fights at HW and having to fight AJ in his backyard in front of 68,000 rabid AJ fans Well, Crawford has done that twice and is now going to do so for a third time despite him only having to wait 15 months combined for both his title shots at 140 and 147, never having had one fight at any of the weights above before getting his shots, let alone two or three, and both his first and second shots were in his home country even though Horn was the champ and his third one will be too, again even though Tszyu will be the champ providing everything goes according to plan tonight. Usyk got criticized for doing something once Crawford has done twice and will be doing a third time even though what Crawford has done and will do again is way way worse if you're going to cast a critical eye upon it. Weird that, eh?
