Could Tszyu and his team have called the fight after the 4th round?

I’m reading and hearing that because the cut was accidental and it happened early, if Tszyu and his team said he wasn’t good to continue it would have went to the cards?

If that’s the case Tszyu has a major case of elephantiasis of the scrotum.

Yes. If when the ref asked him if he was good, he could have said he couldn't see due to the cut. I seriously thought his corner would have stopped it after thec3rd and get a NC.

Do you think the decision to not do that was a case of bravery or a case of not being fully informed of what the rules are? The fight would have been a draw or a victory for Tszyu had team Tszyu exercised that option.

In my opinion Tim just wanted to be great and come out victorious no doubt.

The team though, do you think they dropped the ball?

I believe if an accidentally foul happens before 4 rounds it’ll be a NC, if they continue and it gets stopped later because of the same foul it goes to the score cards. But, I think the Dr has to stop it, if the fighter stop it, it’s a loss.

So technically Tszyu would have lost if he said he couldn’t continue because of the cut.

Really I always thought it would go to the cards.

I don't think Tim would have taken the route of saying he could not continue. So, the rule is, if an accidental cut or injury happens before the 4th round and the fighter cannot continue, the fight is ruled a no contest. The fight will go to the score card after the 4th round is completed.

Are you saying it’s a case of bravery or a case of being uninformed or being not calculated by not exercising the option of not choosing to continue after the fourth round? Taking into consideration how bad the cut was.

Multiple factors. It usually comes down to bravery, wanting to win the fight despite the odds, not wanting to disappoint the paying fans/networks, not wanting to look like a wuss in front of critical fans. A no contest would not make more people want to watch him or a rematch.

I don't blame fighters who want to continue to fight. They are there to be warriors. Corners should have a fighters back, but obviously want to get paid and encourage their fighters. In general I blame refs and doctors for not stopping fights. They are the least money driven decision makers, and the most objective to make the decision. My guess TV Networks pay off refs and doctors to let fights to continue.

Tim doesn't seem like the guy to make excuses or do something like that. Thus, it didn't surprise me that he wanted to do that. He fought till the end.

Well, if the Dr decides that the cut is not bad enough to be stopped, it’ll be loss if the fighter decide he can’t continue.

So what you’re saying is if the Doctor chooses to stop the fight due to an accidental foul occurring in the first four rounds it’ll go to the cards?

If the fighter says he can’t continue due to an accidental foul which occurred in the first four rounds it’ll be ruled a loss?

    Is that correct?

they should have, but Tim probably thought he could beat Fundora anyway

it’s hard to find the strength in your hands and feet to get inside a giant jab spammer when you’re losing pints of blood

Bravery. I don't think Tszyu would try to use the rules to win or stop the fight that way.

I don't think that is totally correct. I think if when the ref asked Tszyu how he was doing and he responded he cannot see because blood was going into his eyes. I think it goes to the score cards. I could be wrong. I cannot think of a fight that would support my statement.

    Bravery. I agree.

    Although.

I’m starting to double down and understand the situation at the end of the second round.

Tim’s team should have threw the towel in on Tim’s behalf at the end of the fourth, if they were smart.
