Max had a similar style to Ingo but was an overall better fighter and while he had a big right hand, I don't think it was as lethal as Ingo's bingo. This could turn into a trilogy with both men winning one over the other.
Me, too! The best version of Max Schmeling stopped Joe Louis in the 12th round. Joe Louis was somewhat inexperienced but I still think that was at least a decent version of him. I do not see anything comparable in Floyd Patterson's resume, nor do I see anything on film that leads me to believe that a prepared Max Schmeling could not handle him. Honestly, I doubt if Floyd Patterson makes it to round 12 with Max Schmeling.
Yes, but what does 'floored' mean? If only we had a thread to share our feelings on this...generally speaking.
As others have said, this is hard to call. I think I favour Schmeling, but only marginally. I like his timing & counter-shots to overcome Patterson’s blitzing handspeed…just. Schmeling by competitive decision. Both men get off the canvas.
