My Heart says Roy Jones Jr would beat the hell out of Fullmer.
My mind says don't be so sure especially over 15rds.
Jones Jr. Should win. But he never faced anyone quite as rough and tough as Fullmer. Or a Lamotta, or Basilio, for that matter, especially under the refereeing of that era , who more than likely would tell a fighter "stop crying " than take points or separate them in a physical fight.
Jones Jr. Should win... Should win easily.
    But.....

Fullmer could get pretty rough and he had a solid chin, so RJJ could be in this for the long haul.

Depends on how ugly Gene can make it, I’d say Roy chops him up 9 outta 10

I agree 100%, first look at this matchup and Roy is the automatic pick,,,but. If Fulmer who's rough as sandpaper is still coming at Roy in round 12 Jones could fold. Probably not the way to bet, but I wouldn't be extremely comfortable with a wad of cash of Roy

Jones. Simply far & away too good in too many areas, though Fullmer would have a shot over fifteen rounds.

In my opinion being rough and tough is just one thing that you need against Roy. You also needed great timing and boxing skills. And in what I have seen of Fullmer he didn't really have those. In my opinion RJJ knocks his block off.

Fullmer beat Sugar Ray Robinson so he might be able to do it against RJJ

Man, idk. I was rewatching some Fullmer footage and thinking that this dude was really very rough and tough. Did a lot of nasty work in the clinch and could grind dudes down. Then I watched the RJJ Reggie Johnson fight and saw that Reggie was able to clinch RJJ fairly easily. Maybe Fullmer does have a chance? Then Reg was on the floor after getting caught with a punch out of nowhere and I remembered again just how bloody fast RJJ was. So, my opinion has shifted from no chance to yours. Maybe Fullmer can do it.

I think Fullmer would force Jones hand personally and make him unleash the beast, demand he unleash it even. He's going to hook him outta there as tough as Fullmer was. Jones was special, even as early as the end of his 160 stint.

Fantastic match but at what weight? Make it 160 lbs and I favor Gene who fought under 160.most of his career.

I think Jones power was underrated. He certainly could pull off that same left hook that Robinson KO'd Fullmer with
