Seeing how close the fight with Hopkins was, one would believe that Hopkins would have won that 5-10 years earlier.
RJJ out points him in the 8-4 region. Hopkins/Calzaghe would be another very competitive fight, but a younger Hopkins would have better energy levels and would edge out a decision.
Both beat him IMO. Hopkins pushed Calzaghe close as an old man. Joe was not prime himself but it was VERY close. Prime Hopkins wins in a close fight. Jones was finished when they fought. He should have retired three years earlier, after Johnson. Prime Jones beats prime Joe fairly comfortably. Joe, in my view, didn't fight these two (despite much talk) until they had clearly declined, whether that was by design or not. I was around when they were all fighting at their primes (and a Brit, fyi) and I thought Hopkins and Jones - particularly Jones - were clearly better.
