Bonavena floored him and many lesser fighters than Marciano decisioned him. I think Rocky would stop him mid rounds TKO. Btw Rex Layne was better boxer than Chuvalo.
I love Rocky I’m Italian but anyone who thinks he would have been great in modern days is not a scholar of boxing. Marciano weighed 184 1/2 pounds for the 2 most important fights of his career Louis and Walcott. He was 5 10 (Don’t believe the 1/2 he was probably 5 9 )with a 68 reach. I saw Marciano’s tv show standing next to Za Za and he was probably 5 9 1/2. He fought in a time after WW 2 and part during Korean War when talent in the heavy division was not great. Walcott Charles and Louis were over the hill and he outlasted them. Incredible story that someone that small could end up champ and undefeated. Tribute to his dedication and toughness. But the Chuvalo that KOd Quarry a little lucky that he was would be way too much for Rocky. He was 218 lbs of steel. He hit like a mule and took punishment like a steel girder. Marciano had trouble putting down a 206 lb chubby Brit no chance he hurts Chuvalo. Late stoppage or decision by Chuvalo.
Uh no, Chuvalo was never floored in 93 professional fights. I don't believe Marciano could do it either
Ali, at a then career heaviest 214 lbs or so, really thumped Chuvalo. A precursor to the heavier and better leveraged for punching post exile Ali - but with all his prime attributes still intact. Perhaps Ali’s power punching display in that fight is underrated because it was the impervious Chuvalo after all…but I think Ali hurt George on multiple occasions and clearly had him backing up. Ali also hit George very hard and often in their rematch which is actually a terrific fight to watch.
Rocky batters George. It's revisionism to think otherwise. In the 1960s, during Chuvalo's prime, no one would have picked him to beat Rocky Marciano who was still in recent history.
Chuvalo was a C fighter with an A chin. He doesn’t stand a chance. The collective IQ of this site continues to decline year after year.
