He wouldn't have done better against Lewis in 2002. Maybe you also think Bert Cooper and Vaughn Bean would beat Tyson.

Tyson would win a wide UD or wins by late stoppage hes on a different level to Mercer. And I don't think a brawler who blocks punches with his face matches up well vs Tyson no matter how good Mercer's chin is.

Tyson had to show adversity vs Ruddock going 12 tough grueling rounds facing the biggest puncher in the division at that time.

He would do better against any version of Holy and Lewis.
No, I pick prime Tyson to stop Mercer late or beat him by UD but post prison Tyson was head hunter and Mercer would beat him.

Exactly what I said except it was post Douglas he never faced anything like Razor prior to his loss. Perhaps Tyson was motivated against Razor. Tyson did have a good chin etc….

I just think Mercer gets a tad overrated yes he had a very good chin. But this is the same guy that got handily beaten by an ancient Holmes, lost every round to Damiani before scoring a freak stoppage, went 1-1-1 with two journeyman fighters Marion Wilson, Jesse Ferguson.

Yes Mercer performed well against Lewis but I think Lewis stood toe to toe more with Mercer on purpose, to make a statement to the American public that he could brawl and be in exciting fights.

Remember Lewis was scheduled to fight Tyson after the Mercer fight, so he needed an exciting fight in America to build his popularity after the shocking loss to McCall.

Yes, and you had no issue brining up Tyson’s performance against Lewis. Wlad took Mercer’s head off in the same year.
