You shouldn't need much more evidence that Schmeling was dangerous.

He might actually have a decent chance… if he caught George during one of his retirements.

Excellent post! Not because it's even remotely accurate but it's unmatched for sheer comedy value. Not sure what the funniest part was but perhaps "George Foreman had vastly inferior skills to Madcap Maxie". Legitimately choked on my water on that. Foreman wasn't the most skilled heavyweight out there, but I wouldn't even put Max in the same category as him. Baer had an atrocious defense, was a terrible finisher (Does anyone really think Carnera would come back and even win some rounds off Foreman after being knocked down multiple times and breaking his ankle), and didn't possess even an inkling of a jab

. So I'm very puzzled as to why you brought up Schmeling losing to this guy in his defense. I would've avoided this bout like the plague if I were drunk and trying to make any argument for Max.

I was more than a bit bemused myself. Trouble is Baer manhandled Schmeling practically whenever he wanted to as well. Foreman is far more aggressive and possess a notably more damaging two handed assault both to body and head as well. Whenever Baer got aggressive he had things mostly his own way.

Schmeling simply wouldn't handle Foreman's aggression and physicality for mine. He also hit Louis with a million right hands before finally wearing him down. It's all Foreman for me. Schmeling is a very good fighter with good all round skills but there's too much against him here for mine.

He shoved Max - yes, pushed him aside yes and it didn’t add much to his credit at all like most rough housing. Baer was outboxed and countered most of the way. That is till that unfortunate right hand moment for Schemling LOL.

Baer had something going for him that Foreman didn’t, an inside game and tremendous stamina which really won the day for him down the stretch IMO. If Foreman tried to fight his usual fight and Schemling did as well as he usually did I don’t think Foreman would be very busy after round 5.

You'd have to find your way out of the basement first and you've proven countless times that ain't ever happening.

    Troll elsewhere.

Yeah, a good chance, a clever fighter with a legendary right-hand lead, Foreman is a better fighter and a bigger fighter, but he would need to be a bit careful here if he wanted to avoid trouble. The styles favour Schmeling.

A good counter-puncher operating at the world-class level will certainly stand a chance. Someone like Schmeling, or Quarry, could pull this upset.

Yes. Should Foreman beat him, he'll be the second best name in his wins and the best counter puncher he'll have ever defeated.
Foreman better take Max out in 5 or it's going to get really dicey for him, and given Max's stellar skills, defense, mobility and solid chin this is not at all a foregone conclusion.

More of a chance than Roy Jones against Lewis.

I never understood how he lost to Baer and Baer had next to zero on Foreman
