should Bivol and Beterbiev be devalued because they're one division champion?

When they retire, will people remember them as overrated champions who only stayed in their weight class?

No. It's different at the higher weights, 175 to 200 is a huge jump and they'd be facing giants there. Besides, cruiser is rather weak at the moment so it's not like that's the only way to fight quality opponents.

I think the bigger critique is waiting so long to fight each other

Bivol certainly should as it's taken him 7 years to fight the champion of his division.

There is no way someone should say that undisputed champion in 21 fights, that has 21 KOs - is overrated.

When Beterbiev beats Bivol, there is nobody in that division so he should move up and beat the next champion at CW.

How can an Undisputed Champion be regarded as over rated just because they stayed in their true weight class ! Maybe an argument in Bivols case for not fighting Beterbiev sooner or any other LHW Champion for that matter but in Beterbievs case he has actually sought out all the other Champions in his Division as well as currently having a 100% stoppage record in his pro career .

Now that is a fact ! Bivol has yet to face a LHW Champion in his career never mind Beterbiev the unified Champion of his Division .

No they should not. If you conquer a division thoroughly that is a helluva statement.

They should be devalued because neither of them are undisputed.....................neither completely conquered their divisions. This fight will change that.

I will say Beterbiev has a greater claim to be ranked higher than Bivol though

Both will look sub par at Cruiser.
Bivol is gonna live off that one win off a small unmotivated Canelo, while Bivol is gonna live off KOing nobodies.

Division jumping AND spreading your wings in your division is equally impressive..but it has be a longish reign.. because there could be 4 weak champions holding the belts.. it's a sense of longevity either way.

Or an impressive few fights etc.. to gage either way.

One is linear in the WBA-WBC-IBF-WBO sense.. the other is vertical in weights.

In the world.. of speed and power and all that

Hogwash. Although, all the casuals and noobies who think you have to be a multiple weight champ for greateness will probably believe so.

Floyd could have done undisputed.. who was left? Kell Brook and an IBF.. just because he didn't do it doesn't mean he couldn't have.

    We just never saw it..

Nope, that's what resumes are for. And at the same time if guys win at multiple weights? Tip your cap at them, thats a better accomplishment but it doesnt diminsh the one class champs either. And in general, fans these days disrespect guys with belts it's crazy. The only champions I give the side eye are email champs or in other words guys that got handed belts without the challenge attached.
