What does the referee do if a boxer gets hit in the neck?

    I’ve never seen this happen so I’m curious.

    Edit: I should have clarified. I have seen boxers get hit in the neck before but what I mean is are there any instances the referee has done something about it because I’ve read in a few places that it’s a foul.

    It's a legal scoring area.

    Everything above the waist oriented to your front & sides is legal. Nothing anterior is (so no rabbit punches or shots on the kidneys or spine).

    You can for instance punch an opponent's forearms or wrists to break down their guard - very smart and underutilized strategy.

    Check out Ken Norton vs Duane Bobick. Norton hit Bobick in the Adam's Apple and that's all she wrote.

    I seem to recall it happening in the Azumah Nelson vs Genaro Hernandez fight.

    Hernadez got time to recover but I think the punch was in the Adams Apple.

    I agree, but I have seen it ruled a foul on occasion (not sure why)

    The shot that sugar Ray Leonard hit Donny Lalonde with was almost the punch that ended his career, right on dons Adam apple. I believe it was for the light heavyweight crown, and the fight almost never took place.

    Hell no! Pac landed on that chin and slept Hatton. Hatton was dreaming about retirement while he was out.
