Not entirely. It's a 55/45 split. That definitely isn't reflective of the difference they bring in revenue.

Haney has leveraged his status against Garcia's popularity.

Would be interesting to see if they have a rematch clause, and if so how much the split is then.

 

I'm sure these things are always negotiable, depends on who you're dealing with I suppose. But common sense would say Haney the more accomplished champion would command a higher split. The business of Boxing says nope. That would be interesting to know for sure. Usually if the lesser draw wins they automatically think they deserve more for the rematch even when it doesn't change their stature in the least. Boxing has become so convoluted.

 

Haney's team has done an incredible job promoting him. He could be Shakur Stevenson status, but he is getting plenty of money and recognition.

His hype has exceeded his actual skills; he's not a transcendent talent.
