Looking for fighters with 10+ title fight KOs before the IBF was considered a major title.

Major thanks to anyone who tries to help.

Larry Holmes had a dozen before the IBF belt was created and presented to him.

    Wilfredo Gomez had 13.

    Bob Foster had 11.

Muhammad Ali had 11 over two reigns.

Gomez had 18. Counting his first title winning fight.

Joe Louis had 22 counting his title winning fight.

    Right. Gomez had more.

Joe Louis wasn't a champ during the two-belt era. WBC wasn't formed until the 1960s.

Oooh ok..I thought you meant "two belts....or less" lol..

I wonder how interested people wee in boxing in the "zero belt era" ej 1700s and before. Since there were no "world champions" unless you count James Figg as a world champion....

Britain also recognised world champions. A couple of other states in America too I think, Maryland especially, though that might have been the fifties.

There were also Ring belts. And Police Gazette belts. And colored belts. And world titles handed out by the BBB of C. There have always been multiple belts, and fights where promoters created belts for specific fights.

I didn't start this thread, but the " two-belt era" is a common term for the runs when the WBA and the WBC were the only games in town.

Especially when he clarified the two-belt era" as before the IBF was formed. Which made it three alphabet belts.

The WBC and WBA two-belt run lasted about 20 years (1963-83), before the IBF started handing out belts to Holmes, Spinks, Curry and Hagler.

I think Pipino Cuevas had 11 counting his title-winning effort vs. Angel Espada (with Randy Shields being the only challenger going the distance).

Danny Lopez had seven plus a DQ win in four vs. Fel Clemente.
