The last fight of Joe Louis, with Don Dunphy's excellent and accurate blow by blow analysis. This is the highest quality version of this fight available and at 60 fps.
    Enjoy

Thanks, Pedro. I never heard this before. Dunphy was as good they get.

Such an intriguing fight, always had a grim fascination with it. Poor Joe.

Thanks! I was lucky to find this recording, it'll be the first time for many to hear this one.
I agree, of all the announcers I've heard, Dunphy was easily the most accurate one.

It is a sad one but Louis put up a great fight against a young Marciano. All the rounds barring the 8th and the 2nd were very close.

Notable that Marciano initially turned down the fight until Louis called him and told him that he really needed the money, and Marciano reluctantly agreed. Marciano cried in the dressing room after.

He had met Louis at least twice before, including once as a boy when him and a friend sneaked into a bathroom to watch him ****. Louis gave them both a quarter and Marciano admired him forever more not only for being a great, great champion, but a kind-hearted man.

When Marciano died, Louis said, "god took the best of us."

Lol! Not only was that a nice tribute to Louis, but the Al Wiel line was hilarious!

I have no idea who, if anyone, would agree with me, but I think even THAT version of Joe Louis could have beaten some Heavyweight Champions when they were Champions.

He was on a seven fight win streak against good competition, including Lee Savold and Jim Bivins, and I believe the Marciano fight was an eliminator of some sort. That version of Louis was one top contender.

POST SCRIPT: On October 9, just before the October 26 fight, the NBA ratings came out with Louis #2 (behind Charles) and Marciano #3.

Louis had the BBBC belt when he beat Lee Savold even though the BBBC slowly backed off the recognition(sources differ as exactly when) as Louis had lost to Charles and the belt had lost its purpose.

He was not the Prime Joe Louis, but he was still a pretty good fighter, not shot (as many say) in my view.

Dude, you nailed the time stamp. Groucho knew his boxing and Rocky was sharp on his feet too - excellent.

I haven’t watched the vid yet Pedro but your reputation precedes you - looking forward to watching later. Thanks.

I saw an image where Marciano elbowed Louis clean.
