One of the most underrated pioneers of the sweet science, trained the likes of Peter Jackson, Bob Fitzsimmons, Young Griffo and Paddy Slavin. Do we have any surviving manuals, or newspaper descriptions of his techniques/style?
I confess I don’t know anything about him but I’ll follow this thread to learn . I’d like to know what his training methods were and workout routines
Australia had a tremendous amount of influence on boxing during the first several decades of the sport under the Marquis of Queensbury Rules with Larry Foley playing a major role. As a result, Foley has been a vastly underrated figure in boxing history, especially in recent years. - Chuck Johnston
Cool find, is there any newspaper describing his boxing style, or the tactics\techniques he utilized and used to train others? I wonder if he made a manual, like Professor Donovan and Billy Edwards.
I guess you'll have to look up the reports in the newspapers to get a glimpse of his style. Uploaded 4 reports of his bout with William Miller in 1883 This content is protected
