Ok so here is my list if I were to have a Latin boxing Hall of Fame: Two notes: In this sense its a Hall of Fame for Latin greatness so the bar would be far lower than the actual Hall of Fame to get in. sort of like state boxing halls of fame. And, in this case Latin is not only reserved to Spanish speaking people, but those with Latin stock or last names as well. Also they have to be retired, so Leo Santa Cruz, Canelo Alvarez and Amanda Serrano do not qualify yet. So here it goes: Jorge Ahumada Muhammad Ali- honorary member as he should be in every hof Romeo Anaya Lupe Aquino Art Aragon Bruno Arcari Alexis Arguello Baby Arizmendi Rene Arredondo Harry Arroyo Antonio Avelar Kid Azteca Tony Baltazar Marco Antonio Barrera Carmen Basilio Fidel Bassa Wilfred Benitez Nino Benvenuti Oscar Bonavena Yesica Bopp Panama Al Brown Ivan Calderon Hector Camacho, Sr. Orlando Canizales Miguel Canto Michael Carbajal Georges Carpentier Pedro Carrasco Javier Castillejo Jesus Castillo Ruben Castillo Jorge Castro Marcel Cerdan Antonio Cervantes Bobby Chacon Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr Kid Chocolate Juan Martin Coggi Diego Corrales Miguel Cotto Leonardo Cruz Stevie Cruz Jose Cuevas Esteban De Jesus Oscar De La Hoya Carlos De Leon Roberto Duran Alfredo Escalera Sixto Escobar Crisanto Espana Ernesto Espana Antonio Esparragoza Luis Estaba Juan Jose Estrada Acelino Fredias Victor Galindez Leo Gamez Ceferino Garcia Arturo Gatti KId Gavilan Wilfredo Gomez Betulio Gonzalez Delia Gonzalez Rodolfo Gato Gonzalez Humberto Gonzalez Joan Guzman Juan Guzman Alphonse Halimi Herbert Hardwick (Puerto Rican born and mother) Genaro Hernandez Melissa Hernandez Rafael Herrera Luis Ibarra Eder Jofre Willie Jorrin Fidel La Barba Jake La Motta Kevin Kelley (Puerto Rican mother) Santos Laciar Ismael Laguna Juan Laporte Oscar Larios Jose Legra Richie Lemos Rafael Limon Nicolino Locche Duilio Loi Alvaro Lopez Danny Lopez Juan Manuel Lopez Ricardo Lopez Tony Lopez Miguel Lora Raul Macias Lupe Madera Ray Mancini Ernesto Marcel Rocky Marciano Juan Manuel Marquez Rafael Marquez Mario Martinez Sergio Martinez Rocky Mattioli Manuel Medina John John Molina Pedro Montanez Carlos Monzon Erik Morales Armando Muniz Jose Napoles Fulgencio Obelmejias Osvaldo Ocasio Ruben Olivares Rafael Ortega Carlos Ortiz Manuel Ortiz Manny Pacquiao Jorge Paez Sr. Carlos Palomino Benny Paret Eusebio Pedroza Willie Pep Raul Perez Pascual Perez Bernardo Pinango Lupe Pintor Carlos Quintana Jose Luis Ramirez Armando Ramos Ultiminio Ramos Jaime Rios Antonio Rivera Luis Rodriguez Edwin Rosario John Ruiz Vicente Saldivar Alex Sanchez Salvador Sanchez Samuel Serrano Efren Torres Jose Torres Felix Trinidad Jr. Amado Ursua Rodrigo Valdez Fernando Vargas Martin Vargas Wilfredo Vazquez Sr. Ada Velez Pancho Villa Alfonso Zamora Hilario Zapata Daniel Zaragona Carlos Zarate What do you all guys think?
Antonio, I absolutely love what you did here. Great stuff. Cheers. I hate to nitpick though, but I believe Ray Mancini is half Italian American and half Irish American.
Antonio, I just reread the list much more carefully and realized you included ALL Latins, not just those of Spanish decent. My bad. Apologies. Either way, a great list!
Im adding names as I remember for example right now I added Rodrigo Valdez. Chavez, however, was in the first edition lol.
A few more to consider: Enrique Bolanos Chango Carmona Rodofo Gonzalez Alfredo Urbina Jose Medel Jesus Pimental Bernardo Caraballo Famoso Gomez Oscar Bonavena Nicolino Loche Rafael Herrera Rodolfo Martinez The Canizales brothers - Gaby and Orlando The Sandoval brothers - Superfly and Richie The Baltazar brothers - Frankie and Tony Mauro Mina Toluco Lopez Jose Legra Luis Rodriguez Nino Valdes Jorge Ahumada Kid Tunero Damn, I could keep going. But a great start, Antonio.
Brazil is part of Latin America but they aren’t Hispanics. Jofre actually is half Italian blood on his mothers side (100% Italian) and his dads side is French Basque and his dad was from Argentina and his parents from Chile.
