No one knocked out Tex Cobb not even a Shavers who was the hardest puncher and not even a Larry Holmes, so what are chances that Liston could stop Tex Cobb?
Tex would lose decision, he's 10 times stronger and better than Wepner and Scrap Johnson so no, Sonny wouldn't KO him.

If the Cobb vs Holmes fight made ( supposedly, personally, their wasn't a big name he could leach on after Ray Leonard "retired " in my opinion)

Howard Cossell quit announcing boxing, imagine his "histerics" if it was Liston doing the pounding?
I believe even the most "inept" referee would stop the fight if prime Liston instead of Holmes was doing the punching with in 10 rds.
The difference in power would be that easy to recognize.

After they stopped the Wepner fight, Liston apparently said he didn’t know who was braver - Chuck or his manager.

Sonny could come out with some pearlers sometimes - I don’t that Chuck would’ve found that particular one too funny though.

Liston probably would be landing much cleaner than Shavers. And his jab and right hand were heavier than Holmes jab and right hand.

Liston punches are not cleaner, he got himself out of balance very often plus Shavers punches way harder.
Holmes is taller 3 inches than Liston, has faster jab plus he has right hand that Liston could not match.

Shavers was frequently more off balance than Liston ever was. Shavers had Holmes on jelly legs stumbling around the ring and was missing by several feet when he tried to finish him.

Liston was the far better boxer and more accurate than Shavers. His superior jab allowed for him to set up his punches better and was a better combination puncher. It's absolutely possible for Liston to stop someone Shavers couldn't stop, plenty of people did that in real life.

No way, Liston when jab set himself wide open and could be countered with great right hook because he stood only on one leg.
There's even a breakdown of his boxing skills and what he lacks on youtube.

Better boxer yes but more accurate hell no.
Liston lacks something Shavers had, two handed power.
Shavers could crack you with both hooks and uppercuts plus right cross that could match Marciano's and Bear's right cross.

Liston scored multiple knockdowns/knockouts with either hand.

And Sonny Liston had more stamina in his best years. Earnie Shavers lacked stamina, he wound down if he could not take out an opponent early. Liston defeated Eddie Machen on points on Sept 7 1960. Muhammad Ali had Earnie on rubbery legs in the last round of their title fight on Sept 29 1977 in Madison Square Garden, Ali took Shavers best blows.

Did you now that at the final bell to end the 15th round of the Holmes - Cobb fight Tex claimed he turned to referee Steve Crosson & said " Give me 3 more rounds & I'll be Heavyweight Champion of the World Larry cant hit me no more his hands hurt him too much" lol , I always thought it was another of Tex's famous quips but I ran across Steve Crosson in Dallas We got chatting & I asked him if Tex had actually done that Steve said " Yes he did & I firmly believe he was being serious in asking for what was impossible for me to give " Tex chin was set in concrete thats for sure They were both staying at the same hotel in Houston & next morning Larry knocked at Tex room door & asked his wife " Could you please cut my eggies up for me I cannot do it my hands are too swollen? LOL Tex yelled back " Get outta here Holmes through you I ve had to have a liquid breakfast now you ask my wife to fix your breakfast Ask someone else" LOL Tex sure was one tough SOG Great guy too

True, Ernie Shavers hit Cobb with everything he had and ran out of gas in the 7th, power is the last thing a fighter loses and in this fight speed and timing didn't matter as Cobb was a heavybag for him. Liston though formidable was not in Shavers power category but he was a better boxer with better stamina. Cobb goes the distance

It’s possible that ole’ Tex might survive. But I can also see him getting cut up into a bloody mess From that constant piston-like jab that he’d have no answer too. And unlike Holmes jab there was a lot of power behind that one

Yeah but was never known for his right hand just for his jab and maybe for a hook.
Shavers had more powerful left hook plus better right hand.
