Ingemar Johansson vs Karl Mildenberger, both prime. Can Ingo kayo the German Southpaw with the Bingo? Or will Karl score a decision over Ingo?

Would pick Ingo, except Karl is a southpaw. Therefore I pick Mildenberger via decision

I remember when Mildenberger fought Muhammad Ali in Sept 66, he ate a lot of right hands, got decked in the process too. I wonder if Mildenberger could take the dreaded Bingo?

Well Ali was much faster and accurate than Ingo. Although, if the bingo landed, Mildenberger would be in trouble.

Interesting fight. With no confidence whatsoever Mildenberger on points

Ingo wins. And I say that as someone who thinks Ingo is wildly overrated. Ingo was simply on another level. Dick Richardson flattened Mildenberger in a single round then was stopped in his very next fight by a past prime, and quite possibly brain damaged Ingo.

I would favor Johansson but Mildenberger might make him work for the win

Ingo. Mildenberger was awfully susceptible to right hands and he could be hurt. Those are two things you dont want in combination against Ingo.

That's another thing. Ingo's right hand would be kryptonite for Mildenberger.

This would have been the best EBU(not IBU)title fight ever tbh. Would not be confident picking either of them.

I brought this up in the other thread about whether or not there was a point to Johanssons going longer. And this was the biggest fight in Europe he'd have missed out on in the near future.

Never would've suspected Mildenberger to be overrated until reading this thread. Absolutely laughable.

You guys realize this is the same guy who was sparked in a single round by Dick Richardson?

Ingo behind on the cards, connects with the mighty right.

Sounds very possible Fergy. Mildenberger as pointed out by a very talented poster was vulnerable to a straight right hand being a southpaw. I noticed that vulnerability also in his only title match against Muhammad Ali in Sept 66. Ali decked Mildenberger several times with that right hand, Bonavena did the the same to Karl in Sept 67 during the WBA Tournament.

Ingo either wins early ( à la Dick Richarson) or takes a few rounds to get accoustomed to his southpaw stance before dropping him a couple times and winning in 10 rounds. Good match up.
