Pipino Cuevas vs Donald Curry, both prime, 15 rounds, at 147 lbs. Could the Cobra withstand Cuevas bombs for 15 rounds? Could Cuevas end it early?

Yes but so could curry. Both men could punch and neither were exceptionally durable. Curry might even have been the more skilled of the two

Man I love Curry but I could see Cuevas stopping him late because of the ability to take more punishment and his one punch power.

Prime Cuevas was a beast, he could get to Curry but he'd take some punishment. Not an obvious outcome to this one,,,,

I remember watching Curry on his way up, he looked like he was going to be the next SRL, the loss to Honeyghan was a shock although I heard he was weight drained in that fight.

I think this could go either way, but if were to bet, I'd put my money on Curry.

I don't think that any of us saw that coming, it was televised live on Showtime, Lloyd Honeyghan in ring center gave Donald The Cobra Curry that very aggressive stare down, Curry's eyes reflected possibly concern, fear, doubt, and fatigue. It was about this time that the Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs Sugar Ray Leonard title bout was announced for April 6 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Curry knew he had been left out of the conversation.

Donald could win this, he had the skills to do so. But he and McCrory were missing that nth degree of something that Leonard and Hearns had. Most likely Curry does well enough to have a lead until the 11th or 12th. That's when Pipino Cuevas coldcocks him.

A prime Curry beat Cuevas. The problem with Curry is he had a very short professional prime. Over 300 amateur fights did him in.

I see Curry outboxing Cuevas but eventually getting caught and stopped. Similar to Don's bout with MIke McCallum.

Good assessment, Donald Curry had the skillset to out box the power punching bone breaking Pipino Cuevas early and stave him off with combinations and good body movement, plus good concentration, but as in the title bout against Mike McCallum, he tired and was found open by the dreaded "Body Snatcher" in 1987.
