I'm not buying this narrative Ryan Garcia just fooled the whole world into thinking he's nuts. Sure played it up but still a fkn head case.

Post fight conference showed he has more wits about him than the pre fight build up.

Dude he weighed 165 in a previous fight, yeah technically he made weight, he's still a bully who got exposed, deal with it.

    I had a feeling... gutted I didn't bet when I saw him 10-1.

I thought if an old Linares could do well and hurt Haney, than a young Garcia def could too.

Ironically it's a bit of a 4D chess move, probably unintentionally.

If Haney had refused to fight, it'd look ridiculous because:
    1) Everyone knows he fights at 25lbs above his weight category
    2) Haney was always going to be the bigger guy on the night
    3) Belts not even on the line

It'd look really, really pathetic to not fight in those circumstances.

And let's get real here - yes, it's hard and unpleasant to boil down that hard (to say nothing of being risky and bad for you)... But that emphasizes just how big a difference a weight advantage grants a fighter - no way you'd put yourself through it otherwise.

And in this case, Garcia put himself through less drain, but was clearly the smaller guy - so Haney put himself through more drain for an advantage, as usual, just less of one than usual?
It's still an advantage - I'm failing to see how it's possible to see Garcia as a cheat without making the same observation towards Haney.

Garcia is insufferable but let him enjoy his tainted victory.

Simple Haney made the weight and put himself through the stress Garcia did not so he cheated.

When the advantage is the other way around in the ring, it's hard to see it as much other than a circus, surely?

    Definitely unprofessional.

And no, he didn't win because he didn't boil down those 3 lbs.

And he was clearly lighter than Haney in the ring.

Even if boiling down 25lbs is "professional", it's unsportsmanlike and in a sport where real harm can be done it's a cowardly ass move.

Wouldn't it have looked ridiculous for Haney to refuse?

He was always going to be the heavier on fightnight.

It would've looked like a tantrum from a guy who abuses the system to the max thinking he's not getting maximum unfair advantage for a change - even though he still had his advantage by being the heavier on the night.

Simple - Garcia took the **** less on the draining, Haney took the **** more on the rehydration.

They both cheated - one did it within the rules and had an advantage on fightnight, the other missed weight and came in over but didn't have an advantage in the ring.

So is it really not easy to see why Haney gets very limited sympathy?!

It’s not about sympathy. I have no sympathy for either guy. I respect Haney more because he was within the rules and did not cheat whereas Garcia was outside the rules and cheated. Open and shut case.
