Ryan Garcia has ZERO head movement, no jab, **** for defense and was still able to beat a "champion." Is this how far boxing has fallen?
That top level speed and power did **** for him against a midget. If you think top level speed and power are the only things you need to succeed in boxing, than no need for further discussion. Again, I'm questioning how far boxing has fallen when a "champion" gets beat by someone who has zero head movement, zero waist movement, no jab, is so afraid to get hit that he covers up and turns sideways.
This has been Canelo’s career. He didn't outbox his opponent. He used speed and counter timing to beat guys who were better boxers than him. The fear of Canelo’s opponent is his hook counter when you throw a punch. Canelo loses rounds until he catches you. The same with Garcia. This isnt something new.
A Light Welterweight lost to a Welterweight. Oh wow, how Boxing has fallen! It amazes me how your stupidity carries on in full force.
First of all, Ryan is not a scrub. Although he had no head movement, he did have great foot movement. And you know what's interesting. What i noticed was, I think it was in round 6, maybe in in round 5 (around that time) Ryan really started to get on his bike, stopped throwing punches, and just started to give Devin movement. Maybe he gave away a round or two doing that, but it changed the entire pace of the fight, and really frustrated Devin. Because Devin really hasn't had to deal with that kind of movement in the past, and particularly that kind of movement from a fighter who also has the power to hurt him. And at the time the DAZN commentators were criticizing Ryan for fighting off the back foot and not engaging and made it seem like Devin was imposing his will. But at the time I was saying to myself, no, this was effective movement by Ryan, because although he wasn't landing, he was keeping himself out of Haney's jabbing range, and by out boxing him and using that side to side motion, he was waiting for an opportunity to catch Devin coming in and land a big shot, which is essentially what happened. There was even one point that the fans were booing Ryan for not engaging, for using all that footwork, for moving side to side, but that in essence turned out to be what changed the fight in Ryan's favor.
