    What about 1988 versus 2024?

    1. Tyson beats Usyk
    2. Fury beat Holyfield (if Fury has anything left)
    3. Joshua beats Williams*
    4. I don't think any of us watched many late 80s/early 90s Witherspoon fights, but there are a lot SD and MD wins against weak opposition, so I'll pick Parker.
    5. I'm guessing Dokes would beat Zhang if he fought smartly, but it depends on the shape Zhang is in and if Zhang randomly knocks him out.
    6. Hrgovic would probably find a way to beat Ruddock
    7. Sanchez beats Maskaev
    8. Anderson beats Norris
    9. Douglas probably beats Joyce
    10. Wilder beats Damiani
*Rodrigues omitted on account of being terrible and the guy whose list I quoted forgetting Williams, which I figured out late.

    7-3 for 2024

There are also good fighters outside the top ten today.

This thread was comprised in 2008. So if we update it by comparing 2024 to 1988 then I’d say the disparity is worse.

You du? I found the 2008 line up pretty bad, except for Wlad and to some extent Povetkin. Personally I think we have a really solid top 3 today in Usyk, Fury and Joshua. As for the rest. there seems to be some promise there but hard to tell since they often shy away from good comp.
