That's sad as hell. I will stop making threads about Haney. Jesus, that's one of the most depressing videos I've ever seen.

I don’t know how Haney can look in the mirror and believe he is a champion. In reality he is anything but. His ego is so tender his daddy had to get him a cake so he can celebrate “and still” after getting his ass kicked and his jaw broken. The Haneys are trash, on par with the Lopez’s.

Well, he is still actually Champ and they probably bought the cake out of the 1.5 mil paid to him by Garcia for being 3 lbs overweight.

See, you can lose, keep your title, make an extra 1.5 mil and still eat your cake too. :D

Anyone with self-awareness would be very upset they are now a fake champion.
However Garcia is a fool for coming in 3lbs overweight and not having that belt now and also having a slight asterisk over the win, at least an excuse for the opposition.

"However Garcia is a fool for coming in 3lbs overweight"

He was a fool for fighting Davis at a 136 lbs catchweight with a 10 lbs rehydration clause (although he made big money, had an in-built excuse for losing and was underestimated going forward). This perhaps explains why Garcia broke the rules here to come in healthy and give himself the best chance of winning.

The 3 lbs may have been the difference between winning and losing/drawing, especially given the corruption from the referee and one of the judges. The last 3 lbs are the most draining 3 lbs to lose in addition to coming in smaller, plus the weight cutting rules no doubt favour the A-side anyway (whether the weigh in day favours him, the drugs he's allowed to take to make weight and recover etc.) Many understand that boxing is a corrupt sport and Haney in particular has been a beneficiary of corruption, so it doesn't discredit the win nearly as much as it may under different circumstances.

Garcia doesn't have the belt but Haney is a paper champion and Garcia's status has skyrocketed. If coming in heavy got Garcia the win then it was certainly worth it, especially as he won $12 million from a 6/1 bet on himself. It may be similar to the Loma-Salido fight, except Salido was the de-facto A-side and Garcia's win was much more dominant. Would Salido have won had he not been 2+ lbs overweight? Highly unlikely in that case. Salido also earned himself the right to a rematch and this applies to Garcia: the rematch purse would likely be higher, whereas there probably wouldn't have been a rematch if he hadn't won (even due to a robbery).

Castillo came in 3.5 lbs overweight for the Corrales rematch, having lost the first fight where he made 135 lbs by 10th round stoppage; he won the rematch 5 months later by 4th round KO. He was also 4.5 lbs overweight for the trilogy bout, which was then cancelled.

Not cutting as much weight also probably increased the severity of Haney's beating even if Garcia was going to win anyway, which is bad for Haney physically and especially psychologically. This probably means it's more likely that Garcia will win the rematch: Joyce was psychologically crushed by his immensely punishing loss to Zhang, so Zhang had an extremely easy job second time round. This crushing win for Garcia may effectively lead to the second win and capturing the belt. Plus Haney likely won't get as much A-side protection going forward now that he's lost his 0, been humiliated and seen his value crash.

If some or all of this was intentional by Garcia/his team then it was probably a smart play.

Ordinarily I would strongly disapprove of a fighter intentionally missing weight but the irony of it happening to the biggest weight bully in the sport who has forged an entire career weight bullying the hell out of leprechauns, and OAP past prime and shot leprechauns, he's way bigger, heavier and longer than, and who was being hailed as a P4P great despite having never fought anyone even close to his size which, duh, is not how P4P is supposed to work, is absolutely delicious and beautiful karma.

Even more so when it's highly likely IMO he's using illegal methods to make weight and, as said, I've heard from a boxing insider that he has allegedly missed weight numerous times himself but it was covered up.

Fact is he got exposed at his first weight in his backyard by a past prime injury-ravaged leprechaun he held obscene size, weight and reach advantages over who was facing him on an insanely stacked deck that neither he nor any of his fellow pro countrymen will ever have to contend with in their entire careers and he got battered, humiliated, embarrassed, bounced up and down off the canvas like a yo-yo at his second weight, like his first weight a weight he's absolutely gigantic for, by the first prime young puncher he ever fought closer to his size.

I keep telling you it's a completely different ballgame when these massive weight bullies start facing world champs and top contenders their own size or close to their own size, let alone bigger or way bigger than them

And I keep telling you it's a different ballgame when you're facing world class legit bangers and KO artists your own size, let alone bigger or way bigger instead of navigating your way through your career feasting on featherfists and light to average punchers

Salido was a cheat on the scales and inside the ring with enough low blows to be DQ’d
