Much to my surprise, I think Beterbiev could beat all of these guys and would beat most of them. While Floyd is the best fighter in the group his chin also makes him the most vulnerable. I think Quarry has the best chance of winning. He takes a vicious punch and delivers one in return.

 

Chris Byrd was succesful at heavyweight coming from a lower weight class coz he was a boxer mover...Beterbiev is too small for heavyweight and his punch resistance and power won't be as effective with the big boys.

 

I don't know, I think those guys were hard as nails back in the day.

They wore those stupid little gloves and it seems like they hit hard.

Then again, I suppose the huge difference in nutrition, training regimes, sport science, might be too much to overcome.

Also, I'm slightly unimpressed by Beterbiev.

I think his lack of fights at his age are strange, and who has he really beaten that was genuinely elite level?

Now, if he comprehensively breaks Bivol down the way he has everyone else, then that's a different story - as I think Bivol is world class.

 

Williams blasts him.

Quarry is a slight favourite over him.

The rest he probably beats.

 

Here's how it breaks down for me.

Floyd Patterson. Could be a tough fight because of how skilled and fast Floyd is. But Floyd's chin will sooner or later let him down. He just couldn't take a genuine heavyweight punch.

Earnie Shavers. Easy fight for Beterbiev. Shavers is dangerous early but Beterbiev would soon break him down.

Jerry Quarry. Could be another tough fight. But I think Quarry can't deal with the pressure of Beterbiev like Frazier and goes down late.

Cleveland Williams. Williams is lanky AF so that might cause stylistic problems for Beterbiev. He could also really crack.

Joe Walcott. If Marciano can beat Walcott then Beterbiev can. But it would be tough. Walcott's pull counter might see Beterbiev hitting the deck.

Eddie Machen. Dunno. I haven't seen much of Machen.

Yes, now Artur against Rocky would be a fantastic bout.

I'd favour Marciano, but then I'm biased as he's my favourite fighter of all time.

 

Dempsey easily beats Beterbiev.

 

Beterbiev has been shaken up and floored heavily by one left hook from Callum Johnson who isn't elite.

So some of the big punching Heavyweights like Williams, Shavers, would be dangerous fights for Beterbiev.

Patterson is explosive, fast, dynamic, and also hits hard another dangerous fight for Beterbiev.

Quarry beat huge punching Heavyweights like Mac Foster, Earnie Shavers, Ron Lyle, Beterbiev doesn't hit as hard as them and is considerably smaller than the likes of Lyle.

Overall I would make Williams, Quarry, favourites over Beterbiev. Williams is tall and a huge puncher I think Beterbiev would have huge problems with him, Quarry excelled against better punchers and bigger opponents than Beterbiev.

Patterson vs Beterbiev would be a toss up.

The other fights I can see Beterbiev winning but it depends how Beterbiev reacts to getting hit by Shavers. If Callum Johnson can badly shake up Beterbiev then Shavers might do one better and knock him clean out.

 

0-6 , he's a light heavyweight who comes forward and will exchange against proven heavyweights.
