Soft maybe... probably guaranteed in a universe without the accident.

There are many out there who believed Spence was the best fighter in the sport and had him ranked P4P #1 and they believed that for a long time. I kid thee not.

Ryan beating Haney is being treated like Duran beating SRL by many. Why? Haney is another product of the US hype machine. A fighter who like Spence forged a career beating up on leprechauns he's much naturally bigger than (albeit Haney is a massive weight bully, Spence not near as big of one), career fighters from lower divisions, and barely having fought any legit puncher, let alone ones his size and then afforded a totally undeserved high P4P ranking.

Imagine Beterbiev almost cleaning out 175 of all its career 168 pounders and a 160 BJS 2.0 and barely having fought any legit bangers his size? That's what Spence did at 147.

And Haney has beaten nothing but past prime or shot to bits OAP leprechauns who are blown up 126, 130 or average sized 135s, one of whom clearly beat him and the corruption we saw which saved Haney from a KO loss last weekend was on full display against Loma when the three home judges robbed Loma. That's the US hype machine pulling strings to ensure the hype train keeps rolling on

Other than going on leprechaun/OAP safari, Haney's only wins over prime natural 135 or 140 pounders came against a pair of extremely favourable stylistic match ups in Rougarou and Kambosos both of whom he was still much bigger and heavier than and the first time he fought a prime young legit banger closer to his size he got battered and exposed and Ryan wasn't even in proper condition for that fight

If I was on the voting committee and Spence ended his career without another fight I would vote no. He is a border case for me.

I think he has had a very good career: unified a few titles and beat some very good, not great but very good world class fighters and champions and beat many of them with ease. He was also popular and up until recently undefeated without any real controversy in the ring. The accident ****ed things up for him and Keith Thurman wanted nothing to do with him when he was on the way up.

If Spence goes up to 154 and beats a guy like Fundora or Tim Tszyu which I think he is quite capable of doing and gets a title I think his case becomes much stronger.

I think Gatti might have the most FOTY winners or is at least tied for first, I think that is a pretty good accomplishment to be historically recognized. He also did not hide behind a promoter and fought the best like De La Hoya and Mayweather

If Tim Bradley is in the HOF, Errol definitely deserves it.

Spence fans hyped him up to eventually move up to middleweight and challenge for a title there. Some of these Spence fans have already jumped shipped to Ennis and are saying he will eventually end up at middleweight too. Can a fighter who came up so short of expectations make the HOF? I say no.

I've seen the Bradley argument used pretty often to discredit the IBHOF and I've even seen people say the only reason he's in there is because of Pac 1. I can understand criticising the IBHOF for their inclusion of Rafael Limon, Barry McGuigan, or Luis Firpo, or their failure to recognise such greats as Michael Nunn, Sumbu Kalambay, or Santos Laciar, and an innumerable amount of excellent lower weight champions, but not for their inclusion of Desert Storm. Bradley is, imo, one of the few good calls from the IBHOF in terms of modern fighters, his resume is excellent and he was a regular on P4P lists for years. Bradley is one of the greatest super-lightweights in boxing history and was a good titleholder at welter. He beat Kendall Holt, Joel Casamyor, Lamont Peterson, Devon Alexander, Junior Witter, Juan Manuel Marquez, Brandon Rios, Ruslan Provodnikov, and Jessie Vargas. His only losses are to Manny f*cking Pacquaio, one of the P4P top 20 fighters of all time. If those aren't solid HOF credentials, then I don't really know what is.

Yes. Not a borderline case either.

The "HOF is too easy" people in most sports are almost always wrong. The boxing HOF is strict not easy thats why theres so many regional and national HOFs like the Australian one. There was a 2nd less exclusive international HOF that just went bankrupt.

Some people think being a HOFer means you are in the GOAT convo at your weight class or close to that. I disagree and I think most people disagree.

People mocking the IBHOF because they inducted Bradley is bonkers.

Nothing personal against you, but I couldn’t disagree more about making wait times longer. The HOF is about honoring fighters who showed greatness and / or exhilarated fans. It’s not about fickle fans, keyboard warriors and so-called journalists (whose own accomplishments in their field lack meaning). There’s no reason why such obvious fighters like Pac, RJJ, Floyd shouldn’t have been inducted while they were still active. Did we as fans benefit a damn thing, or did the fighters, by being made to wait for Roy Jones to quit getting bounced off the canvas like silly putty by club fighters, knowing that he’d be a unanimous pick for the HOF?

Depends on how he finishes his career.
