On the bright side, Canelo may want to fight him now.

These constant injuries from Beterbiev is really holding his career back. It’s sucks how injury prone he is, especially at his age. Bivol is very fortunate that Beterbiev is getting older and becoming more vulnerable by the day.

Benavidez is not dangerous. Bivol has been training for Beterbiev who is much more dangerous. Different fighters, yes, but David hasn't fought at 175 and is not the killer that Artur is. He couldn't even stop Plant.

I always knew Bivol made Beterbiev weak in the knees. LOL

He is. He's bigger than Bivol, has sparred him many times, claims to have hurt him and bashed him up in the gym, and Bivol is probably feeling really deflated right now. It's too risky. I want to see Beterbiev vs Bivol and that fight would jeopardize that.

Only because Plant went full Huggy Bear Haney

This might be a career ending injury. A torn meniscus is no joke, if it's a major tear he could be out for over a year. It's also going to limit his mobility going forward which will make him far more vulnerable to opponents that move well like Bivol.

They are talking about rescheduling it to later this year so it may not be that bad, still extremely disappointing though. I was never confident that this fight was actually gonna happen due to Beterbiev's injury proneness. I feel he pushes himself too hard in training, he needs to ease off on that.

It is damn unfortunate. As they say, Father time is undefeated.

Beterbiev doesn't think he can win yet.

This is definitley an injury that Artur would probably be 40 if he can even get back in the ring with, and given his footwork and ability to cut off the ring is one of his biggest strengths would surely affect him in any return - the kind of injury that even young pups struggle to make full competetive injury from!

Feel bad for Beterbiev (and Bivol) but this is one of those cautionary tales for other boxers - if you let things 'marinate' for too long, then other **** happens and the moment passes.

    Gutted!

For most fighters at his age that is a career ending injury. I know he is a beast, but this makes Bivol the obvious favorite.

I tore mine in middle school on the wrestling team, I still feel the difference between the two sides.

He trains like a maniac and gets injured too often

I don't think he has too many more fights left in him

Maybe we get the fight at EOTY and he makes a defence and walks away or he goes to Cruiserweight but enjoy Beterbiev while he is around guys.

Prolonged use of PEDs is known to increase risk of joint injuries.

    Ruptured meniscus is bad.

If it was torn he could be back in as little as 3-4 weeks but this will likely be at least 5 months to start walking and being relatively pain free but closer to 8-10 if he wants to return to peak mobility (which could never happen considering that things like meniscus harden with age) Beterbiev must be ****ing crying his eyes out now.
