Obviously the forum prior to the fight don't agree. I was one of the few that put this fight on a pedestal, and it delivered.

It was a crazy close fight and the commentators were paid to glaze Canelo.

Munguia did well but in 43 fights he fought mostly B&C level competition and it showed. If you have 43 fights under your belt there is no way you should use inexperience as an excuse.

No, it was competitive and regardless of outcome it was still the 2 best at 168 fighting each other

You think Munguia was a better fight than Benevidez?

I think Benevidez has great potential but he hasnt beat or even fought anyone in the upper echelon so its too early to say. Could he do better than Munguia against Canelo? Maybe he could but his last 5 fights have been a completely shot Andrade, an overrated Plant, C+ level Lemiux, Kyrone Davis and Ronald Ellis. That doesnt tell us anything about how he would fare against Canelo. I think Munguia has done more to deserve the #2 spot at 168

I would say it was competitive enough to not be considered a mismatch. I think there were rare moments that Jaime did make Canelo somewhat uncomfortable, and he did decent in the first round or two.

At the end, Canelo knew he had been in a decent scrap, I think.

    I'd say this wasn't a mismatch.

A mismatch is something entirely different and requires much farther separation between the two.

no. canelo is still canelo. looked sharp, timing was there, reflexes and reactions were there. Jaime is just better than the common narrative suggests. if they fight again next may, i think jaime takes it. canelo has peaked, jaime just learned some more and has room to get better.

Not a mismatch but I don’t think Munguia has another gear to beat an opponent like that.

Lmao. Are you on crack? Munguia has done nothing to suggest he is anywhere near 2nd best at 168.

At 168 I dont think he has anything left to prove, I would prefer to see him at 175. There are still a few left at 168 that might be competitive fight, Benavidez being one of them and maybe Berlanga and Morrell. I think he beats all 3 with less effort than he needed against Munguia but maybe Benavidez could surprise me and do beter than Munguia. Either way he beats anyone left at 168, its not a super strong division right now though its not super weak either

At 175 a Bivol rematch would be a great fight though I suspect the outcome would be similar. I wouldnt mind seeing him fight Beterbiev, Gvozdyk, Yarde or Kalajdzic. I think he struggles against Beterbiev but he beats the other 3
