He's not been in with a fighter that level yet.

Catching someone and putting them down is not necessarily indicative of knock out power... otherwise they wouldn't have got up.

    But, each time, they did.

Last night, he seemed unable to ever really hurt the kid.

Much more competitive than I thought.

What's frustrating though is this isn't the fight we were supposed to see.

Canelo as a champion should be facing his best challenger.

As UFC fans we get spoilt by seeing chamos fight the most deserving contenders time and time again.

I shouldn't hold boxing to the same standard

Yea, well I wasn´t trying to make a case for him being a big KO puncher. Actually I wanted to highlight that he isn´t one.
He just hits hard and has enough power to put plenty guys down even if he is unable to stop them. And occasionally he finds the mark and KO´s guys.

No one is going to walk through his shots. Munguia got up but he was weary of taking more shots like that. Because at the end of the day, Canelo hits hard enough to get anyone's respect.

More competitive than Haney-Garcia. I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.

Nah you need some pop to do what he did and Canelo was keeping him honest. Munguia has never been down before, I thought Canelo stung him a few times. He took the punches from Munguia well too coz he was getting caught.

UFC is one promotion and they never fight other champions outside the UFC. They do a great job of putting on good fights but boxing has had the bigger fights and events lately. All of these Saudi cards are as good as UFC 300 imo.

I think the UFC now tries to stop people becoming too big of a star where the promotion can't control them tbh.

Mbili vs Munguia is a fight I'd like to see. I'd be picking Munguia though.

    That´s the UFC.
They are the closest thing to a monopoly in MMA. However, they don´t have the best fighters in every division as there are plenty of high level competitors in different organizations.
I would love to see Vadim Nemkov against UFC´s best.
Demetrious Johnson is still one of the best martial artists in the world.
Anatoly Malykhin, Patchy Mix and Ngannou also come to mind, if the latter ever returns to MMA.

UFC is basically what Don King was in the 80s or HBO in the 90s. They might have had the best of the best but there were still great matchups that didn´t happen because of "politics".

If he's not going to move his head on the inside, Mbili will move it for him.

Not strictly true. They bought out Pride, Strikeforce etc. all the best are in UFC.

The Saudi cards are quality though, no disagreement there

But in UFC we all know Canelo and Benavidez would have fought by now

What they have is the prestige of being the best which is more important.

To be the best in MMA you have to be UFC champ.

I'd say the closest in boxing was the start of the alphabet splits when WBC was seen as a better belt

Oh, I'm not saying he doesn't hit hard.

I was saying that he had a bit of reputation as a big puncher, who could take people out, but it seems he's struggling to actually do that...and I highlighted the fact that his last 4 fights went through distance and since 2015 he's gone through distance about 75% of the time (if not more).

So, my question is "what is the reason"?
