I’ve never thought of Canelo as being a knockout artist. It seems as if he has really good power but its just under what you need to be a knockout puncher. He doesn’t knock guys out but they feel his power and change their game plan. Also, it seems like now that he’s a star he knows the judges are on his side and he doesn’t push for the knockout. He is happy to throw 2-3 power shots and let his opponent step back without following.

I agree with you, and I suppose I just meant there seemed to be a perception that he was quite heavy handed and had knock out power, and it as he has got older lt seems like he's been unable to get that k.o.

I think that was when he was being built up fighting smaller guys or guys with weak chins.

The reason is that he is not that big of a hitter. He doesn´t hit hard like say Leonard or Hagler. Canelo actually hits more like Golovkin. There is a lot of weight behind his shots instead of explosive power(of course Canelo doesn´t punch anywhere nearly as hard as Golovkin).
If you wonder why people think he is some KO artist is likely because of the occasional highlight reel KO that he scores.

And as I already highlighted, Canelo rarely puts together consecutive T/KO victories. And his recent string of decisions has a two fold yet simple answer:
    1. Canelo is slowing down.
    This is very apparent.
    2. His opponents have been pretty though:
Golovkin has never been dropped and neither has Bivol. Plus Bivol outboxed him.
Jermell was in survival mode and Munguia got dropped for the first time in his career. Ryder is just one though mofo.

Speaking of Ryder, it was because of the Ryder performance that people started talking about Canelo being past his best. And he likely is. His once slick head movement is basically gone and he barely strings together any combinations.

I thought Canelo's ring generalship, boxing IQ, big fight experience and his composure were the difference in this fight. Mungia did well for the first 2 or 3 rounds using his jab and boxing but Canelo just bided his time and Mungia gave into his brawling instincts leaving himself wide open for counters. Credit Canelo for the win ,,and for his choice of opponent.
P.S. Did Canelo look like he was going to choke when asked about a Benavidez fight?

He doesnt mean just going in there and fighting more fights "by the numbers".

Hes talking about a guy whose been at the top of the sport for almost a decade, and has fought some of the best fighters of the last 25 years.
That type of experince is what he means. Not just "He fought more fights than me".
Canelos been a pro fighter since 2005.
That knowledge is what hes reffering too.

Kinda funny in a way ...I think Canelo did when he fought Mayweather..or everyone else does for him saying he was green... And he'd had a similar number of fights

Munguia fought like a tough Mexican because he is. But it was a mismatch; he turned out to be tailor made for Canelo.

If someone fought 43 fights they should have all the experience they need. Munguias record is highly padded.

Whether its Canelo, Mungiua or anyone else, if you have 43 fights you should be well experienced. Are you able to understand that?

I think you misunderstood...I'm not disagreeing, I said Canelo and his fans said that after the Floyd fight...and I thought it was as ridiculous then given he'd had nearly 50 fights
