No Curry isn't quite Hearns but Cuevas didn't look good against Stafford and was holding on for dear life when Duran hurt him. I realize he was passed it in those fights but he just doesn't know what to do when he gets hurt.

But we are talking about pre Hearns Cuevas, when Pipino was champion. The Duran vs Cuevas bout was post Hearns, so was Stafford. Who wins Cuevas as WBA Champion vs WBA/WBC Champion Donald Curry?

I acknowledged Cuevas was passed it in those fights but he showed he didn't know what to do when he was hurt. Cuevas was a banger who never really learned much else and he was a 70s WBA, they were as a rule not as good as the WBC champs and didn't face the greatest competition.

But wasn't King Carlos Monzon a WBA Champ? He was stripped of the WBC Title in May 1974 for not giving mandatory challenger Rodrigo Valdes a title shot. Valdes stopped Bennie Briscoe in 7 rounds on May 25 1974 in Monte Carlo, Monaco to become WBC Champ. Then both Monzon and Valdes met on June 26 1976 for the undisputed World Middleweight Title in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Monzon decked Valdes in round 14 and won by unanimous decision to become the undisputed champion. Monzon repeated his win over Valdes on July 30 1977, same venue. Monzon was decked in round 2, got up and proceeded to cut Valdes, giving him a beating to defend his title for the 14 th and final time, then retired as champion on August 29 1977.
