They didn’t have a million weight classes or four different belts for these ******* divisions in the 40s.

Well one example why is Joe Louis rated above Manny Pacquiao ? Does he have a better resume ? I don't believe so.

Did he beat fighters who had considerable size over him who were considered elite ?

I'm not saying Louis being above Pacquiao is necessarily wrong but what's your criteria for it ? Because Pacquiao has a better resume and better achievements overall. If you're rating it based on Louis's dominance and longevity I can understand but the other aspects are very debatable.

Pacquiao won Lineal titles in historically great divisions like Flyweight, Featherweight, Lightweight, Welterweight, so your point is quite meaningless to be honest.

    Does he, though ?

Louis has more wins over top 10 rated fighters than anyone in the last 30 years, Pacquiao included. He also has the most wins over fighters ranked as the divisional #1 than anybody else, ever. Obviously, he also holds the record for the most consecutive defences at a weight division and held the world title for 11 years. He faced the 5 world champions before him and went 5-1, facing 4 of them before even getting a shot, and despite that, he was still the youngest Heavyweight champion ever until Patterson came along.

And although much has been said about his fight against Billy Conn, it should be noted that Conn was a better P4P fighter than anyone Pacquiao ever beat, and seemed to have peaked at Heavyweight despite fighting at around 175-180, even knocking out Louis' top contender, Bob Pastor, and becoming the divisional #1. Pacquiao's accomplishments are great and unique, but no more than Louis'.

Pac is considerably higher than being just top 100, he easily makes the cut for top 30 and has a considerable argument for being top 20 and might even be top 15. If we took out every fighter who was ever knocked out or beaten from the P4P equation, we'd barely have any fighters left, no single fighter in the history of the sport is wholly unbeatable, even at their best, everyone has a style which they just won't gel with. Even Floyd was beatable if you were a rough, active inside fighter who pushed him back and used an awkward style like Castillo or Maidana.

I don't think he's top 10 my argument is he deserves to be in the top 20, and based on his achievements resume i don't see how he isn't top 20 in all honesty.

And I’m being honest with you he is a great fighter if someone disagrees with that there just trolling but when you start talking about the best of the best of the best that’s God status he ain’t that.

Whilst Billy Conn is a great P4P fighter he was considerably smaller than Louis he was 174 pounds compared to Joe Louis who was 200 pounds. Now i realize it was a different era and it was more the norm back then, and whilst Billy Conn did beat ranked contenders at Heavyweight. I would say it's a more impressive feat for Conn to have been so competitive vs Louis rather than the other way around, even though it's still a good win vs Louis over a P4P great it's still against a fighter that was considerably alot smaller.

    Joe Louis's best wins

    Max Schmeling
    Max Baer
    Jersey Joe Walcott x2
    Primo Carnera
    Jack Sharkey
    Jimmy Bivins
    Billy Conn x2
    Buddy Baer
    Arturo Godoy x2
    Tony Galento
    Bob Pastor
    James Braddock
    Tommy Farr

    Manny Pacquiao's best wins

    Keith Thurman
    ODLH
    JMM x2
    Marco Antonio Barrera x2
    Erik Morales x2
    Timothy Bradley x2
    Shane Mosley
    Antonio Margarito
    Ricky Hatton
    Joshua Clottey
    Chatchai Sasakul
    Miguel Cotto
    Oscar Larios

PS looking at it like this the resume between the two is actually alot closer than i thought.

Floyd fought a lot of tough rough active fighters and he beat them all because he was complete.

I don't believe that either i think Pernell Whitaker, Thomas Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Salvador Sanchez, etc would all beat Pacquiao in H2H match ups.

Floyd:pipiManny Manny is a FIGHTER!! came up the hard way fighting to feed his family asked nobody for anything what he got he EARNED!!!!!!!!!!!! Floyd was offered the protection of the State Commission & Vegas boxing insuring him from ever getting a loss on his record by making him Vegas Cash Cow. Now today we have Canelo enjoying the same privileges. Its done so blatantly everyone knows it. Its Floyd & Canelo that are not top 50 in reality
