He lacked in a lot of qualities. As you say didn’t know how to utilize reach. Couldn’t seem to generate much power behind his punches. He wasn’t stopped that many times in his career but then again didn’t face that many huge punchers either. And I found him boring to watch. Someone recently asked how he’d do in this modern era and my thinking is not well. If he couldn’t make full use of his size against smaller men in the 60’s then how would that improve against a field of guys who were his size and in many cases bigger ?

Ernie Terrell wore out his smaller opponents by wrestling with them, imposing his will on them thus wearing them out.

@Pugguy You're gonna have to give me something here. If Terrell wins this, Williams' resume skyrockets.

Yeah, Because Cleveland Williams stopped Ernie Terrell in 7 rounds in April 1962.

I need to cogitate on this one for a while Swag.

Perhaps we can sub in Earnie's sister, Tammi?

Well, actually, they weren't related despite rumors that she was either Ernie's sister or wife. It seems there weren't too many Terrells about, so deductively....

Tammi was a great singer, but I heard she could fight like a thrashing machine too - and that she could also play dirty and head butt with the best of them.

So, bring it "Vander" and see what you get!

Tammi will meet you in Miami. Keep it clean and she'll only bust your spleen. Use your head and you will end up dead.

    What's my name?
    Holyfield or Headfield?
    Holyfield Wins.
Ancient Holyfield could be compared to the huge Valuev; prime Holyfield would beat prime Terrell.
