I an firm in my belief that Herbie Hide would have floored a 1938-1942 Joe Louis Barrow.

I totally agree. Hide had plenty of power, and was certainly capable of dropping Louis. Somehow, I'm expecting the OP to get some pushback here though.

Why should I "Change your view" about anything in the world?
I hope I was clear enough, because I use google translate.

So did Buddy Baer, Tony Galento, and Jersey Joe Walcott, but in the end what was the outcome to those aforementioned fighters who dropped Joe Louis? Did they win or did they lose? The same thing would have happened to Herbie, and he ain't no Love Bug.

Could? Most certainly. If Louis didn't get him first though.

Louis gets dropped...he still comes back to win. Unlike Mike Tyson...

Lets be honest here, there is a strong argument that Walcott beat Joe Louis in the first one.

Well, I spent a lot of time on this post just to convince you of the real truth - NO, Herbie Hide wouldn't drop prime Louis. Now, I've just pegged a large rock at you, you blasphemer - I hope for your sake that helmet of yours is plenty thick. :D

Could Hide knock Louis down? Sure. But afterwards he would have nowhere to hide from Louis.
