    Agreed. Absolutely just smack talk.

And come on, racist fighters? In the modern day where there's no color line? I think racism would get literally beat out of a fighter by fighters of other races as they began their training. Walk into a boxing gym as a racist [insert race here] teen and get started for real? You're going to end up getting your ass kicked during normal training by guys of [insert every other race here]. If somehow it doesn't happen there, it'll happen in the amateurs. If anything teaches respect for a man on his own terms, you'd think it would be fighting.

I agree Hopkins was very insecure. If a white fighter had said the reverse his career would be over thats why you never hear it.

I voted for Joey Calz straight up. After freeing himself of the weight shackles Hopkins had been in terrific form. Regardless of age or career stage this was the best version of Hopkins ever beaten.

It's Jermain Taylor, but nobody wants to admit it.

This isn't true because Kovalev said some awful stuff about African Americans and his career didn't end because of it.

Well for starters he called Adonis Stevenson a ****** and Grover Young a "Thoroughbred n word"

To be clear, I understand that the context of both comments was as trash talk. I'm just saying that white fighters have said things on the level on Hopkins' comment and suffered no consequences just like Hopkins. If you want another example it wasn't Rod Salka's actions and behavior outside the ring that ended his career, it was getting his ass kicked by Vargas. If you wanna argue about what fighters should and shouldn't say when trash talking then make your own thread. You've already derailed this one enough.

EDIT: To clarify that's the forum censoring it not me.

About as racist as Larry Bird, who once smack-talked I think it was the Phoenix Suns for ‘disrespecting’ him by having a white guy guard him.

Roy Jones hands down. Taylor also beat him at his best.

Charles Barkley among others has told that story.

Charles said something like: “I went back and forth with Larry smack-talking all the time. I ALWAYS have something to say back … and I had absolutely nothing when he said that.”

Jermaine Taylor, the fights were close but clear in my book and Hopkins was at his best. I do see a case for Roy

Chad had a career day performance and seemed like a star in the making but never reached that high again

I also find the first fight accidental foul to have been blown out of proportion

Back when it happened, people discounted the Taylor wins by saying it was because Hopkins was old.

Today, after seeing that Hopkins had more years left than Taylor, they just discount it because they don’t think Taylor was any good.

I never was a fan of Taylor but he won those fights. Taylor never did seem to improve maybe even regressed with steward. I believe he got into drugs when training with the kronk guys at least I think I remember reading that in ring mag in an article about pavlik v Taylor remembered

funny they both made such big statements winning the title then had pretty underwhelming title reigns
