Which 1970 s Heavyweight Is Far Too Overrated, IYO?

Based on number of wins over good fighters. Tyson and Holmes have more wins over good fighters and therefore a better resume then Frazier.

 

I think Louis resume is overrated tbh I think both Lennox and Holmes have a case for a better resume

In that case I take Holmes and Marciano as my #1 and #2

 

He was an olympic gold medal winner in 1964.
He destroyed the absolute best version of Jerry Quarry.
He destroyed the absolute best version of Jimmy Ellis who had beaten Bonavena, Quarry .
He defeated the best Bonavena cleanly in their rematch.
He was the first man to stop George Chuvalo
He destroyed a prime Bob Foster in a manner far more decisive than many heavyweight champions performed vs lesser light heavyweight champions.
He defeated Ali.

Besides Ali all those wins are overrated. Beating a bunch of small heavyweights and a light heavyweight who didn't have a single win at heavyweight isn't impressive, any modern day heavyweight would have been able to do the same

 

Yeah but the losses to Quarry, and especially the obscure Stallings knock him down a notch for me.

He was a very inconsistent fighter imo, somewhat like Stallings. His best ever performance was either the Ali bout, or the Norton one.

 

Most of them. They were all great and intertaining. I think especially Ron Lyle is given more fantasy chances vs present fighters. I think both Klits would murder Lyle.

 

But it is a very good question as the 70's heavies is talked about as semi gods, which they wasn't. They were human.
