Who's chin would you consider to be stronger and hasn't been knocked out? With the exception of Usyk and Zhang I can't think of any that would match or beat Fury's.
I just think that Fury, if he shows up well prepared, is going to win. And bodypunching may play an important part in that. Usyk is not getting any younger either...
Parker's chin got cracked by Joyce, Joyce got knocked out by Zhang so it's safe to remove those two being equal or better than Fury chin wise. I've already mentioned Zhang and Usyk. Hrgovic seems to have a solid enough chin based on the Zhang fight, but he was also stumbling around dazed for stretches of the fight and got knocked down. So if we judged him by the same criteria you gave Fury then he'd be "suspect" as well.
Both are far too good to think a single target is the complete answer. They will both go to the head and the body. It's then a matter of what and who wilts first.
Parker took alot of punishment vs Joyce it was an accumulation of punishment not his chin letting him down. Joyce has no defence and fought a massive puncher taking flush punches. Fury has been put down by single punches by non hitters.
Fury was decked by Cunningham and Pajkic, two natural CWs who had very low KO percentages even as CWs. Calling them feather fisted is an understatement. Fury has also been hurt by Chisora and absolute journeymen like Firtha. I think his chin is one of his biggest weaknesses indeed, but if you think otherwise, let's just agree to disagree.
The sensible money is on a points decision that could go either way. Anyone see a K.O on the cards or some sort of serious controversy in the early rounds?
The Cunningham fight was 11 years ago and Fury got up and won by KO 5 rounds later. The Pajkic fight was 13 years ago and Fury got up and won in the same round. Fury has always got up and always won. I agree to disagree with you too.
Exactly. And punch resistance deteriorates as a fighter ages. If he was put to the canvas as a fresh twenty-something-year-old by light punchers, imagine his chin now, at almost 36, many fights, sparrings and knockdowns later. Wasn't it Fury and his dad who pushed this narrative about how the Wilder fights changed him forever, how they took a lot out of him, and how Wilder cracked his skull? His chin is a serious chink in his armour.
Yeah and Fury has taken a lot of accumulated damage in fights too, from a bigger puncher. Still not knocked out. Having no defence is irrelevant when it comes to chin. He still got sparked by Zhang. Yet Fury hasn't been knocked out and only ever came close to it against Wilder who's got devastating power. The only fighter with a better proven chin is Usyk.
