The question is, who do you want him to beat? He can only fight the boxers that are around right now.

    Which rounds did Fury lose?

    Realistically... No.

P4P yes, cruiser yes, heavy the resume just isn't there.

What's more likely, I think, is Fury's enigma gets re-evaluated in general - his wins against Wilder will get overrated a lot less; his near-losses against pretty average fighters like McDermott, Wallin and even Ngannou will be seen as an indication of how he wasn't all that special; you might even see more skepticism over the value of his Wlad win...

If Fury loses this, I suspect his legacy suffers a lot more than Usyks would gain.
Which would be on the one hand a shame, and on the other somewhat understandable.

    He gets a higher ranking

Fury loses his ranking and loses positions

Usyk hasn't done enough to become an ATG..

He's a legend as it is.

But to be an ATG in a particular division you need more than a handful of fights.

He's an ATG cruiser and a very good, even outstanding heavyweight. A win over Fury would be a deserving end to a brilliant career. But he's not an ATG heavyweight on account of a very small body of work.

Reminder that this isn't Usyk's natural division. ATG is a lock for him if he wins...

Just depends how highly you rate Fury... And how history remembers Fury, in the fullness of time - it might not be as adulatory as it is now if he loses.

He's already an ATG as it is.

For a fighter who literally embodies everything great, noble and right about our sport, who not only has always sought out the best, most of the time in their backyards, doesn't duck or dodge anyone, and who is a clean fighter who wins his fights via the application of pure good old fashioned skill not running, holding, or fouling the crap out of his opponents, and who is one of the most humble, respectful, fearless, honest, and likeable fighters to ever don a pair of gloves, it never ceases to amaze me how many 'fans' their out there with this seething resentment of him and who are praying so hard for his demise.

But then you look at some of the trash fighters who embody everything wrong with the sport they worship at the altar of and it all makes sense.

Holyfield beat Tyson and Bowe plus a bunch of other good fighters. No way in hell Usyk surpasses him at HW.

He’s already an All Time Great cruiserweight. This furthers his greatness by becoming undisputed.

Holyfield roided out big time. Usyk is all natural.

    No.

If he beats Fury, he goes down as the greatest HW of his era.

If he's the greatest of his era, that makes him ONE of the greatest of all-time. Yes.

No disrespect to Holy, but aside from being roided to the gills after he left cruiser, he fought an ancient Holmes, and a grandaddy Foreman, both coming out of retirement for their second careers.

He lost a trilogy with Bowe, managing only a win in a circus bout where an idiot flew into the ring.

    Bollocks.

If he beats Fury, I will still rank him below Holyfield, but he will be close. Both men with will be in the 10 - 15 all-time range.

And If Usyk racks up a few defences of the unified title he can finish higher.

His resume will be incredibly polarizing for decades. Some will have him near the top of the ATG HW ranking others will have him closer to the bottom because of the brevity of his HW career. Tbh his whole career isn't that long either especially historically.

He will be the best of this era but he'll kind of be the disrupter that came in at the last moment to win it from AJ and Fury. He won the era but he wasn't there for the most part.
