Three of the four boxing organizations and Ring don't even consider Fury the champion.

    They consider Usyk the champion.

Three of the four alphabet orgs don't even rank Fury among the top 10 heavyweights.

Why isn't Usyk, the champion, with all his belts, calling the shots?
Why isn't Usyk, the champion, with all his belts, making his mandatory defenses?
Why isn't Usyk, the champion, with all his belts, setting the schedule for when he fights and who he fights?

Because Usyk isn't the World Heavyweight champion. Fury is.

Fury is calling the shots. Fury is deciding who he fights and when. Including when he fights Usyk.

And Usyk will never be able to do any of those things until he beats Tyson Fury.

    So, Usyk better win Saturday.

If it's a good fight, it's good for boxing.

If there is a dominant winner, it's good for boxing.

This fight is being made because all the belts are on the line. Without the belts, I don't know if anyone would be outright demanding it because, stylistically, these two don't seem to mesh well. I don't know if anyone is expecting a classic. It could be a total stinker.

And if Usyk is rolling around on the floor crying foul, and trying to milk a DQ, that won't be good for anyone, let alone the sport.

The sport needs an exciting fight with clear winner.

No draws. No technical draws. No DQs. No weird judges cards ... all of which seem more likely at this moment than a great fight.

For me this was the last straw, his dad is an unstable pos.
I love tyson fury, i really do, and always rooted for him to win, but not this one, not anymore, tired of this bull****.
Usyk needs to win this, if not i hope team usyk brawls and put john fury in his place after the match.

I don't know why John Fury gouging a guy's eye wasn't the last straw for you. That happened back in 2011.

John Fury is a moron. He gets into a fight at every weigh in no matter which one of his kids is fighting. He just needs to be barred from the premises during these events.

But, clearly, the promoters, on some level, like the free press he generates.

I have at times had genuinely positive feelings for Fury, and have liked him and wished him the best, and I do want him to have a good life as a retired fighter, and think he's been a great character that will give us many years of arguments about what his record means to the division's history. But I do completely agree with you here. I want Usyk to be great though. What I mean is, I want Usyk to have to be great enough to beat a Fury that is on his game, and I don't want it to be a case of Fury coming in poor form just so we can see a fighter who didn't want to be disciplined or active against the top crop finally out of the way. I want it to be on Usyk merit, not Fury fault. So, I do hope Usyk gets Fury out of the way, in something that we can appreciate thoroughly. But yes, Usyk on top is, on paper, far better for boxing, at this point. Fury shaking it up by dethroning Klitschko wasn't in and of itself bad for boxing, but he practically telegraphed it to us in the lead-up that he is not a Klitschko and doesn't have any real interest in a long reign of many defenses and the discipline that comes with it. Here he is, all these years later, and there's technically been a reign, but it's been pretty frigging off-putting, by comparison.

I can't see that. It may be big in Great Britain and Europe but most certainly Fury-Usyk is bigger worldwide.

Usyk has been after the last belt, that is his goal. Fury has been holding it hostage, Usyk even accepted 70-30 and Fury kept moving the goalposts to avoid the fight.

    rubbish!
pinning those things only on fury is completely wrong.

besides, if fury wasn't fighting you wouldn't even know there was a heavyweight division. it's completely boring now.

Give me a break. Fury has fought twice in two years against punching bag Derek Chisora and the clown out of the MMA.

And when he's not fighting, Fury is coked to the eyeballs and behaving like the disgrace that he is. He's a vile, nasty bigot and not a very pleasant person.

If you think he is good for the sport then frankly, shame on you.

It’s obviously better for boxing and the public perception of boxing if Usyk wins. As demonstrated today the Fury’s are trash.

    Tyson Fury isn't his dad.

His dad gets into confrontations whether Tyson is fighting (or even in the country) or not.

Usyk has a boring personality. Promoters have primarily depended on Usyk's opponents to sell his fights, because Usyk isn't a personality.

Being boring isn't good for boxing. Sports fans who normally don't watch boxing do so to see a spectacle.

Tyson Fury is a better **** talker than any Youtuber, and he is a great heavyweight, too.

Yes. If Usyk loses, then a guy who was beaten by an MMA fighter is champ.

But he won't, so it's a moot point.

Yes Fury makes money. But that doesn't make him the best of his generation or excuse his poor behaviour as champion.
There is no doubt he has a fan base (although it has declined), people who hold him to a lower standard than ATG heavyweights of the past. Just because he makes money doesn't equate to being good for the sport. to
Dont get me wrong. I am not saying Fury is no good. Or not a personality - He is. But his poor conduct as champion has turned many fans off. That is a fact.
