Congratulations on a great career Lucas Browne. The Sydney hardman didn't start boxing until he was over 30 after a brief MMA career where he even fought Daniel Cormier.
In 2016 he picked up a version of the WBA heavyweight world title stopping Ruslan Chagaev in the 10th round after getting off the canvas himself in an upset win.

Browne also had a lot of good highlight reel KO's even after his shock loss to Paul Gallen.
Well done Lucas we are proud of you down here in Sydney.

I thought his win over the undefeated Richard Towers in the UK was one of his underrated wins.

He stayed around just a little too long, he's sounding extra slurry in that clip, which is worrisome. But he's a great guy, and I wish him nothing but the best. Happy and healthy retirement champ!

Any sportsman who over achieves has done themselves proud and Lucas Browne succeeded in doing that.

I remember seeing Lucas Browne working as a bouncer at Revesby Workers in Sydney at fight night I went to there many years ago. I think Browne had just turned pro but was still working as a bouncer around Sydney. He had a tough reputation working the doors all over Western Sydney.

I wish we got to see the big domestic fight between Browne and Alex Leapai when both were in their primes. I reckon it would've been a war I would've favored Browne to win.

If they had met in around 2013 it would have made for a great fight. Browne was around 16-0 and Leapai around 29-4, at the time.

But at that time they were on their own world level trajectories and it makes sense they didn't fight each other then.

My mom said Browne is one of only fourteen men who could possibly be my biological father. Because of a photo shoot or something crazy going on that day. But that's where he got his nickname anyway.

Met him at a set of traffic lights in Brisbane. Shook his hand, shared a joke, both had a laugh. All over in about 60 seconds but he seemed like a top bloke. Good luck in retirement Big Daddy :).
