The first head butt on that video around 1:10 is Evander with his chin on top of Tyson’s head and Tyson lifting his head up.

On the clash of heads where Tyson is cut, Tyson is the one moving forward (with his head of course also going forward on a straight line, as usual, and up rather than with chin tucked in).

I learned early on In the gym (and later taught my guys), when heads are in proximity you need to lower your chin and give your opponent the crown of your head … what you’re trying to avoid is getting cut over the eye, which is what can cause a fight to be stopped, so you keep that part of your head out of the line of fire.

In the first fight, especially, Tyson keeps boring in on a straight line while throwing wide punches. Holyfield holds his ground rather than pulling his head back into the path of the punch, which is not only not illegal … it’s smart. Tyson is counting on the opponent pulling back into the path of those wider hooks. If he used his jab coming in (with his head thus behind it), he wouldn’t have these problems. And keeping his head up rather than also giving the crown results in him taking the contact on his face.

I don’t thik Holyfield intentionally butted but he did not (nor is he required to) duck his head out of the zone where they clash. He’s not the one moving forward most of the time, so it’s Tyson’s forward momentum that creates the head clash situation.

But let’s give Mike an excuse for every loss: He had sex in Tokyo; Holyfield butted him; Holyfield butted him; he was old and past it in his other losses. So guess what! Tyson is undefeated and never lost if we give him an asterisk, lol.

And let’s get a video of Tyson trying to break arms and throwing forearms/elbows … none of which can be by accident. Go look at the second Ruddock fight and he’s warned for low blows, head butts, hitting after the bell … you name it. He’s warned like six times in the first five rounds and of course no penalty. And don’t forget, Lennox Lewis has said that Tyson took him aside at one point and showed him a bunch of dirty tricks (aka rulebreaking aka cheating) and how to get away with them. (And that’s not to mention he’s admitted to cheating drug tests with his own baby’s urine inside a fake dick.)

Poor Mike, such a choirboy. Such a victim. Mike wanted to play and Evander got in the sandbox … and Tyson didn’t know what to do about that.

Why did Tyson bite his ear? Some unrelated frustration? Tyson addressed it in the ring.

Holyfield was smart enough to position himself to let an opponent clash with his thick skull and make it look like an accident. He knew what he was doing. His head butts weren't usually done with him initiating them aggressively in the traditional fashion, but that's what made them so effective. It was plausible deniability. The refs rarely said anything because it wasn't a flagrant malicious foul like a low blow or rabbit punch.
